The Vice President, Engagement and Care Management Marketing, Optum Care will play a critical role in driving Optum Care's patient engagement strategy, in support of revenue and growth goals. The Engagement and Care Management Marketing Leader will direct a team of marketers to implement programs throughout the patient lifecycle to improve experiences, drive adoption of offers and solutions and ultimately improve patient outcomes. This individual is forward thinking with a strong ability to influence and change how Optum Care delivers on the promise to transform healthcare.

The successful candidate works within a highly matrixed environment, partnering closely with business and marketing leadership to develop strategy and supports execution through partnerships with various internal stakeholder groups, including digital marketing operations, data and analytics teams, market insights, and legal and compliance to execute engagement and care management strategy.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Oversee the development and implementation of marketing plans and omni-channel campaigns to achieve program participation, value targets, and specific patient opportunities
  • Collaborate with key partners across the organization to develop and leverage proprietary analytical models and consumer data and insights that will result in campaigns that drive meaningful behavior change
  • Proactively assume responsibility for leading and executing on strategic initiatives and projects, responding to requests, and serving as a key contact for Optum Care marketing
  • Champion the customer strategy, patient journey and lifecycle; use insights and research to build strategies and plans to communicate and drive engagement with key consumer audiences that effectively deliver on brand and customer strategy objectives
  • Develop national programs and support local planning, adaptation and execution of strategies to engage members in their health and overall wellbeing, maximize the value of programs available to them, and drive meaningful behavior change
  • Drive go-to-market planning, introduction and adoption of new care management capabilities (i.e, patient portal, telemedicine, etc.); in addition to condition specific opportunities
  • Provide strategic and tactical support to package, position and promote innovative capabilities that differentiate Optum's care management offering from competitors in all markets
  • Advance the patient analytical agenda by working to deliver insights, predictive models and measurement for all marketing initiatives
  • Work with business partners to understand consumer-level economics and track marketing expenses so that Return on Marketing Investment can be calculated
  • Collaborate to develop and optimize A/B testing strategies to assess marketing impact; ensure necessary reporting is in place to track and measure activity, engagement and financial metrics

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree or equivalent experience
  • 10+ years strategic marketing experience
  • 10+ years successfully leading a team to deliver results and developing staff in ways that strengthen team effectiveness and efficiencies
  • 5+ years of consumer marketing background e.g. credit cards, consumer-packaged goods, etc.
  • If you need to enter a work site for any reason, you will be required to screen for symptoms using the ProtectWell mobile app, Interactive Voice Response (i.e., entering your symptoms via phone system) or similar UnitedHealth Group-approved symptom screener. When in a UnitedHealth Group building, employees are required to wear a mask in common areas. In addition, employees must comply with any state and local masking orders

Preferred Qualifications:

  • MBA in Marketing or related advanced degree
  • Healthcare marketing experience
  • Strong leadership skills in managing direct reports
  • Experience successfully leading through change in a highly matrixed, ambiguous environment
  • Passionate about digital marketing and engagement concepts/methodologies and able to speak with credibility and conviction as to how to apply them to meet business objectives
  • Experience using analytics to inform marketing strategies, A/B testing, channel optimization, and financial metrics for marketing initiatives
  • Strong program management and proactive engagement and campaign strategy experience with a history of driving tactical execution across cross-functional groups to achieve strategic goals
  • Develop and manage the appropriate level of resource investment to meet campaign objectives, goals and budget; accountable for driving to target outcomes within identified budget
  • Direct others to resolve business problems that affect multiple functions or disciplines
  • Experience collaborating with business partners to maintain strategic alignment and advance projects with multiple cross-functional and cross-market work groups
  • Experience successfully influencing senior leadership to adopt new ideas, products, and/or approaches

Colorado Residents Only: The salary range for Colorado residents is $130,300 to $250,200.
