We are seeking an Engineering Technician for a contract role with a leading client in Mequon, WI.


Responsibilities:



  • Supports engineering activities such as design, test, check-out, modification, fabrication and assembly of prototype electromechanical systems, experimental design circuitry or specialized test equipment. Applications include analog, digital and power electronic systems.

  • Works from schematics, diagrams, written and verbal descriptions, layouts or defined plans to perform testing, checkout and trouble-shooting functions.

  • Performs operational test and fault isolation on systems and equipment.

  • Assists in determining methods or actions to remedy malfunctions.

  • Assists in the design, construction, test and check-out of test equipment.

  • Uses manufacturing, test, development or diagnostic equipment, including, but not limited to, oscilloscopes, signal generators and specialized test apparatus.

  • Works on assignments requiring considerable judgment and initiative.

  • Maintain and learn new technological skills so that they may be appropriately applied in product test or to development processes.

  • Assists others in the accomplishment of development programs, from evaluating design concepts through experimentation and prototype development including engineering documentation

  • Ensures thorough familiarity with company policies and procedures.

  • Appropriately applies policies and procedures in compliance with government laws. Policies and procedures include, but not limited to: Standards of Business Conduct, Intellectual Property, Control Environment, Information Protection, ISO 9000 & 14001, government regulations (e.g. health, safety, quality and environmental), and functional policies published on the company's Information Network.

  • Acquires knowledge of the procedures and norms of the organization, and an appreciation of how tasks are accomplished

  • Develops effective working relationships across the organization.

  • Acts as a team contributor in the area of Product Development and Business

  • Assists in solving customer problems, operating in concert with the assigned engineer.

  • Utilizes computers for the purpose of collecting data and transferring files


Requirements:



  • A minimum of 4 years of work experience in a relevant field.

  • Minimum of an Associate Degree in Electronic / Electrical Technology or equivalent.

  • Demonstrated experience with troubleshooting and operating variable frequency drives (VFDs), and experience working with high voltage 3-phase power (480VAC) and laboratory instrumentation for power electronics

  • Understands implications of work and makes recommendations for solutions.

  • Able to perform circuit / product testing and evaluate performance per specification

  • Able to utilize and interpret the following test and development instrumentation: Digital oscilloscopes, Analog and digital volt meters and ammeters, Differential amplifiers with voltage probes, Current Sensors with Amplifiers, Tachometers, Power supplies, Spectrum Analyzers

  • Ability to understand and practice laboratory procedures for the safe and efficient use of electronic instrumentation, electrical power, rotating electrical machinery, and general laboratory cleanliness

  • Experienced in writing reports, test plans and other related or supporting levels of documentation

  • Proficient with ordinary hand tools to construct and fabricate prototype circuits, sub-systems and systems commonly found in power electronics industry

  • Proficient with soldering

  • Able to troubleshoot printed circuit boards

  • Able to compose well written, legible, and accurate notes of experiments, including a summary on interpreting test results and recommendations

  • Has familiarity with business information systems for transfer of engineering data (SAP).

  • Demonstrated capability of using of Microsoft Office Suite of programs such as Word, Excel, Power Point and VISIO

  • Demonstrated capability of programing PLCs

  • Willing to work overtime and be flexible on work schedule to meet project demands.
