This is a direct-hire career opportunity with a manufacturer of electromechanical products and components used for automotive and industrial applications.


Summary:

The Supplier Quality Engineer functions as a technical liaison between quality, supply chain, manufacturing, engineering, and suppliers to ensure that quality standards are met and maintained.


Responsibilities:

  • Work with Supply Chain to approve new suppliers, analyze supplier change requests, and communicate proposed changes to Engineering.
  • Verify effectiveness of supplier related Engineering change requests.
  • Qualify parts for production approval.
  • Review and process supplier Production Part Approval Process (PPAP).
  • Understand supplier auditing and perform associated audits and required reporting.
  • Investigate reported product problems, complaints and repair activity related to supplier quality.
  • Collaborate with suppliers to perform root-cause analysis and take appropriate corrective action.
  • Manage and track supplier corrective action requests (SCAR) to ensure action is taken in a timely manner.


Requirements:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering (or related field)
  • 3+ years of related experience in a Supplier Quality role
  • Firm understanding of ISO 9001 and IATF 16949 standards (preferred)
  • Clear understanding and participation in Root Cause analysis activities, FMEA's, Flows, Control Plans, and other Quality activities.
  • Understanding of Six Sigma principles and machining processes
  • Understanding of machining processes
