Job Description

As an Analytics Sr. Manager, reporting to SVP of Digital Enterprise Analytics, this individual will provide all necessary reporting and analytics support for the enterprise-wide Platforms team within the Digital Organization. The Platform team within the Digital Organization leads development of various platforms (customer communications, apply, onboarding, servicing, authentication, document management, and money movement) and the Analytics Sr. Manager will build out a team of analysts to support measurement and insights to show the effectiveness of these platforms and help drive adoption and improved customer experience. He or she will also closely collaborate with Segment (Consumer, Small Business and Corporate) and Enterprise reporting and analytics teams to ensure consistency and accuracy across reporting as U.S. Bank's digital capabilities change and grow.

The ideal candidate will feel at ease integrating data from multiple/disparate sources, querying databases, conducting sophisticated quantitative analyses and presenting their findings as clear, actionable insights and recommendations that enable revenue growth, channel adoption and customer acquisition and retention. The ideal candidate will be a motivated professional who is passionate about data and data visualization but also willing to roll up their sleeves and code their way through a developing database architecture as they also opine on that development. They must have strong technical and analytical skills, with the ability to understand the business goals/needs, and be committed to delivering data driven insights that lead to actionable recommendations. It will also be necessary to ensure up-front data and reporting requirements are communicated to development and technology teams to ultimately enable delivery of analytics and insights.

This individual will be the go-to' analytics person for the Executive Vice President, Digital Platforms & Capabilities CDO who has high expectations for a strategic partner who can fuel the team with data and analytics insights. An example aspiration is having the most optimized digital sales application funnel in our industry. The team's output will reach the C-suite at U.S. Bank so accuracy, presentation and storytelling must be top-notch. In addition to tight integration with the Platforms team, this person will also work to build strong and effective relationships across the Digital Analytics, Enterprise Analytics, TOS (Technology and Operations), and EDG (Enterprise Data Governance) teams.

The Analytics Director will also possess a strong willingness to learn and teach and will aid in leading change across a matrixed organization. Recruiting, hiring, onboarding and activating a team of ~12 analysts will be an early challenge, as well as prioritizing support across Platforms as the team is built out. In addition, project and team management, process creation, relationship-building will all be key deliverables in the first 90 days.

Basic Qualifications

  • Masters degree, or equivalent work experience
  • Eight to 10 years of experience in analytics, demonstrating a progressive increase in responsibility and scope
  • Expert user of advanced analytics tools & techniques to perform analysis and interpret data - some examples are: SQL, SAS, R, Python, Excel, Alteryx, Hadoop, etc.
  • Expert user of analytics data visualization tools such as Tableau, PowerBi, DOMO
  • Expert in analytic storytelling and presentation, including PowerPoint and other presentation tools
  • Demonstrated project management and organization skills
  • Managerial expertise leading analysts in reporting, insights and analytics and nurturing future leaders in this space
  • Ability to work and thrive in collaborative work environment as well as independently to drive results
  • Impeccable attention to detail, while being comfortable with data ambiguity
  • Proven track record of driving Analytics into actionable business outcomes
  • Demonstrated ability to influence change across a complex organization

Preferred Skills/Experience

  • Hands-on knowledge of digital data including raw clickstream
  • Experience in financial services with knowledge of products, customers, transaction and interaction data, including source systems
  • Demonstrated understanding of statistical analyses methodologies
  • Experience leveraging tools for basic last mile ETL and data wrangling
  • Knowledge of data quality practices
  • Experience with standard relational databases (Teradata, DB2, Postgres)
  • Working knowledge of Hadoop (HDFS) with ability to query Hive; exposure to Druid a plus
