ASSISTANT PROFESSOR OF PRACTICE
School of Education, North Dakota State University


North Dakota State University (NDSU) invites inquiries and applications for a non-tenure-track, nine (9) month Assistant Professor of Practice position in the School of Education with a primary focus on K-12 Whole Child Education to begin August 16, 2021 or as otherwise negotiated. The selected individual will serve as a core faculty member in our undergraduate and graduate teacher preparation programs.

Responsibilities

Responsibilities include teaching and developing undergraduate and graduate courses in whole child education or related areas; assisting in program planning, operation, and evaluation; advising and mentoring undergraduate and graduate students; supervising student teaching experiences; conducting research and scholarly activities; participating on committees at the unit, college, and university levels; and communicating with North Dakota educational associations, agencies, and K-12 schools. The typical workload for non-tenure-track faculty in the School of Education is Teaching (70%), Research (10%), and Service (20%).

Minimum Qualifications

The School of Education is seeking a colleague committed to student success with the following required qualifications:
  • An earned doctorate in Education or a closely related field from a regionally accredited institution by the time of initial appointment ;
  • Demonstrated commitment to diversity, equity, access, and inclusiveness
  • Professional experience in a US K-12 education position at the building, district, regional, or state, or national level.
  • Evidence of effective oral and written communication skills;

Preferred Qualifications

The ideal candidate will possess one or more of the following qualifications :
  • Evidence of providing high-quality instruction, advising, and mentoring at the graduate level ;
  • Evidence of the potential for developing a research agenda in an area relevant to Whole Child Education;
  • Commitment to cultivating relationships with diverse colleagues on campus, within the local community, and across the state/region; and/or
  • The ability to diversify program area faculty in a way that prioritizes, values, and celebrates diversity in all forms and ensure a sense of belonging, respect, and inclusion that supports the success of each member of the community.
