Approve, release, and communicate engineering change notices to ensure correct product manufacturing according to product specifications as determined by Engineering.
Ensure product and part availability while maintaining obsolete and slow moving inventories at a minimum.  This position will provide service and support to all Business Units so as to facilitate sharing of best practices and establishing common practices and procedures in support of the company Production System.

Role & Responsibility

New Product Implementation
  • Attend new product team meetings and implementation meetings.
  • Lead reviews of the M-R-C and BOM setups during phase 2 and phase 4 project activities.
  • Identify all new parts and deleted parts in Oracle to be used in the NPD/OSMI reporting process.
  • Track new or revised parts to ensure they are sourced, routed and costed. Activate them in Oracle when all attributes are complete so they can be ordered, received and consumed.
  • Create M-R-C items and bill of material structure in Oracle so loaders, excavators, and attachments as well as their options can be forecasted, ordered, built and consumed.
  • Key Performance Indicator(s) (KPI): Launch of new products on time.

Cross-Functional Coordination
  • Act as liaison between Sourcing, Manufacturing Engineering, Tooling, Production Planning Inventory Control, Product Engineering, Product Management, SIOP, IT Business Process Group.
  • Coordinate cross-functional Engineering Change Notice Meetings.
  • KPI(s): Meeting outcomes.

Change Order Tracking and Implementation
  • Implement engineering changes to the factory by creating and maintaining part numbers and bills of material in Oracle.
  • Establish and maintain effective dates for bill of material changes and ensure dates are met to avoid production disruptions.
  • Track implementation of changes by coordinating information from Tooling, Sourcing, Manufacturing Engineering (ME), and Production Planning Inventory Control (PPIC).
  • Work with Sourcing, Manufacturing Engineering, Tooling, and Production Planning Inventory Control to ensure effectivity dates are met in accordance with established lead times of procured parts and manufacturing lead times.
  • Promote drawings and parts list in PMD when changes are implemented so they are viewable to shop floor.
  • Manage engineering changes in EFI by assigning PMIs and personnel as required.
  • Monitor when tasks are completed by Manufacturing Engineering, Tooling and Sourcing so that effectivity dates can be set.
  • Archive ECNs with effectivity date when implemented.
  • Track and follow-up on new or revised parts to ensure they are available for production requirements.
  • KPI(s): Availability of correct parts on time. Minimal obsolescence.


Job Requirement

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Business, or equivalent field preferred.
  • 3-5 years of experience (resulting in a firm understanding of BOMs, routings, and inventory) allowed as an equivalent.
  • Six Sigma Yellow or Green Belt preferred.
  • World Class ERP experience with an emphasis on Oracle Bill of Material, Routing and Inventory modules.
  • Experience using Manufacturing Execution Systems (MES) and related processes.
  • General understanding of Oracle Sourcing and Finance (Costing) modules preferred.
  • Product Engineering process experience preferred but not required.
  • Basic computer skills.
  • Ability to follow written instructions and verbally communicate in clear concise sentences.
  • 10-24% Travel Required

This is a position that requires a deep knowledge of Oracle, modular bill of material and the compatibility matrices for loaders, excavators, and attachments.
Extreme attention to detail in the M-R-C, BOM, and system setups is critical.

Location of Bismarck, Wahpeton, or Gwinner will dictate amount of travel required.
