Position Information

Position Description & Details:

This position will be part of the Ag. Service Center team. Applicant will provide basic construction repairs and building maintenance of buildings owned by North Dakota Agricultural Experiment Station, will also be responsible for maintaining a file system, of building drawings, and building projects for these buildings, this includes both agronomy and livestock facilities, also will develop specifications and bid documents, secure bids, award bids, and supervise projects when hiring outside vendors.

Responsibilities:
  • Conducting routine inspections of premises and equipment.
  • Ability to perform basic repairs and maintenance.
  • Developing specifications for bidding of repair projects.
  • Secure bids from outside vendors following Purchasing department requirements.
  • Overseeing contractors when professional repairs are necessary.
  • Respond to “One Call” locates, and mark locations of utilities when necessary.
  • Maintain file system of building drawings, specifications, and utility maps.
  • Able to work independently.

Work Schedule:

7:30am-4:00pm

Minimum Qualifications:
  • Proven construction experience.
  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED).
  • Skilled in the use of hand and power tools.
  • Experience performing Building maintenance.
  • Computer skills, MS Office, printers, and plotters
  • Strong organizational skills.
  • Strong time management skills.
  • Ability to check blueprints, repair manuals, or parts catalogs as necessary.
  • Ability to work in a team environment
  • Demonstrate the ability to learn computer aided drafting (ACAD)
  • Valid driver's license

Preferred Qualifications:
  • AA degree in Drafting, Construction, Construction Management, or related Trades.
  • Computer Aided Drafting experience (ACAD)
  • Knowledge of universal building code
  • Cabinet making experience
  • Land Survey experience
  • Geographic Information Systems (GIS) experience
