Luther College seeks applications for an Assistant Professor of Nursing, with expertise in behavioral health to be part of our thriving nursing program. This is a five year term position to begin late August 2021; with annual reviews and opportunity for continuing terms.

Teaching responsibilities include behavioral health didactic, behavioral health clinical coordination and clinical teaching, and gerontology. Other courses may be assigned by the department head. This teaching load is spread over the fall, January, and spring terms and is geographically located in Rochester, Minnesota with clinical teaching at Mayo Clinic Rochester and Federal Medical Center. Additional responsibilities include departmental/committee work, student recruitment and student advising (after first year). Occasional shared travel to the Luther College campus in Decorah, IA is expected.

Qualifications: A Masterfs degree in nursing is required; Doctoral degree is preferred. Successful applicants will demonstrate potential for excellence in college teaching and a commitment to the liberal arts. Position requires clinical nursing experience; experience teaching baccalaureate nursing is preferred. Current licensure as a Registered Nurse in Iowa and Minnesota or ability to obtain by time of hire is required.

The Luther College nursing program has a rich history of producing high-quality graduates. Our concept-based curriculum prepares students to be critical thinking, problem solving and compassionate leaders in the professional nursing practice. Over 1,200 students have completed the Luther College nursing program since it was established in collaboration with Mayo Clinic Rochester in 1974.
