Position Description & Details:

The Department of Health, Nutrition, and Exercise Sciences invites applicants for a 10-month non-tenure track Assistant Professor of Practice position in the area of Athletic Training. This position will serve as Coordinator of Clinical Education (CCE) in Athletic Training. This position's workload is 60 percent teaching (18 credits/year), 10 percent research, 10 percent advising, 10 percent service, and 10 percent administration. Responsibilities will include supporting NDSU's land-grant mission of teaching, research, and service.

Successful candidate will teach undergraduate and graduate Athletic Training courses ; participate in academic advising; serve on graduate student committees; contribute to research, creative or scholarly activities and publish i n scholarly journal s; be active i n professional organizations; and provide service to the department, college, university, and community.

The Coordinator of Clinical Education is responsible for coordinating the daily and projected operations of clinical education and all paperwork associated with clinical education for the Master of Athletic Training (MATrg) program. The CCE, in coordination with the Program Director, must maintain Commission on Accreditation for Athletic Training Education (CAATE) accreditation standards for the MATrg program. The CCE will ensure that all aspects of clinical education are in compliance with the standards. Specifically, the CCE is expected to: 1) Evaluate and supervise students; 2) Participate in advising students for curriculum advancement and graduation requirements; 3) Monitor, develop and maintain clinical education sites; 4) Facilitate development of preceptors as educators; 5) Coordinate clinical experiences and teach competencies associated with didactic courses; 6) Communicate on a regular basis with the Program Director about all aspects of clinical education; 7) Maintain and organize associated clinical paperwork via E-value; 8) Maintain the Board of Certification Continuing Education Unit Provider Documentation; and 9) Collaborate with personnel at multiple entities to ensure a positive relationship is maintained between the program, university and community partnerships.

The student focused MATrg program was developed in 2008, and the mission is to prepare entry-level athletic trainers to practice evidence-based medicine in a transformative health care environment. Currently, the program is 42 total credits and has a wide range of clinical sites with 20 clinical placements and 50 clinical preceptors.

The HNES department is housed within the College of Human Sciences and Education and includes five undergraduate programs, six graduate programs, and 30 faculty and staff members. There are approximately 420 undergraduates and 100 graduate students within the department ( https://www.ndsu.edu/hnes/ ).

Minimum Qualifications:

1. Doctoral degree in Athletic Training or related field from an accredited institution (Doctoral degree completion required by July 31, 2021)

2. Certified Athletic Trainer with three years of experience

3. Eligible for Licensure in the state of North Dakota

4. Understanding of CAATE standards for clinical education

5. Evidence of successful higher education teaching experience

6. Effective oral and written communication skills

7. Commitment to diversity and inclusion

8. Potential to conduct research, creative or scholarly activities

Preferred Qualifications:

1. Previous experience as a Coordinator of Clinical Education or Program Director

2. Knowledge of entry-level Master's program

3. Documented clinical practice experience for a minimum of 5 years

4. Experience with curriculum design, assessment, and outcome measurements

5. CPR Instructor Certification
