Position Overview The Director, Facilities & System Management is responsible for the vision, strategy, planning, coordinating, and senior leadership of all activities related to the delivery of new and existing Facilities & System Management products & services for Digi-Key Corporation.   • Execute business plans and contribute to the development of functional strategy
  • Develop and drive cross-functional goals and objectives and influence that behavior across the organization
  • Understand overall company strategies, goals and objectives; develop and drive department strategy, goals & objectives to align for maximum impact . Effectively communicate with company leadership and throughout the assigned area of responsibility
  • Respectfully challenge the status quo bringing forth creative and new ideas on how to improve the business
  • Manage a staff of Lead|Expert level employees that work on complicated issues integrating activities and/or processes cross-functionally
  • Identify opportunities for team and|or leader (manager|supervisor) development (e.g. hard or soft skill) to ensure industry and corporate standards are met; partner when|where appropriate to develop and organize development activities
  • Work closely with Digi-Key leadership to identify, develop, and implement continuous improvements
  • Align workforce needs|requirements with strategic goals of the department
  • Provide direction and guidance to employees and manage issues appropriately. Partner with Human Resources (HR) when needed
  • Monitor and evaluate performance dashboards and reports; determine root cause of issues & propose|lead recommendations & implementation for resolution

  • May champion|lead organizational change initiatives (e.g. process, technology, etc.)
  • May be a Product Owner for area of responsibility
Position Specific Info:
  • Create and implement standard maintenance operating procedures
  • Prepare annual budgets, capital expenditures requests and oversee all third party billing for facilities. Ensure that department operates within established budget
  • Serves as a core team member for system designs, upgrades, and new building projects
  • Oversees modifications to current conveyor systems and any future installations
  • Maintains an environment that is attractive, sanitary, orderly and safe
  • Designs, implements, and monitors preventative maintenance programs
  • Monitors heating and cooling systems and secures service for systems, if required
  • Coordinates and assists with the future designs and floor plans by partnering with sub-contractors and architects
  • Participates in the design and floor plans of future building expansions, parking lots, and grounds with Digi-Key's President and Vice President, Order Fulfillment/Logistics
  • Evaluates generator needs, and oversees expenditures for ongoing maintenance of generators
  • Supervises all phases of construction for Digi-Key future facility expansions
  • Participates as an active member of the Digi-Key safety committee and council
  • Assists with testing for new industrial equipment (forklift) operators, including re-certifications, as required
  • Responsible for locating, procuring and maintaining leases on new/existing building space; Manages overall relationship with key external partners on anything lease or facility related
  • Financial oversight of utilities for all locations
  • Lead Area build out - layout and equipment needs
  • Responsible for environmental compliance for all locations

  • Two-Year Degree in Operations, Business Administration or similar area of study or equivalent, relevant work experience
  • Typically, 8+ years of management experience
  • Experience in multiple phases of building design, construction, equipment design and maintenance, as well as a broad knowledge base of equipment/systems and construction processes
  • Knowledge of Digi-Key's available & upcoming products and services
  • Demonstrates success in leadership|management role within an interdepartmental and dynamic company (i.e. global, matrixed organization)
  • Demonstrates ability to build and foster influential relationships at all levels across and outside of the Digi-Key organization
  • Demonstrates ability to communicate professionally at all levels within the organization to identify and resolve problems and implement new initiatives.
  • Demonstrates fiscal responsibility with the ability to understand and measure the cost effectiveness of the department
  • Demonstrates ability to actively participate as a member of the Digi-Key Management Team to meet corporate goals
  • Demonstrates ability to utilize, understand, develop analytics and data to drive business decisions
  • Strong contractual and negotiating skills coupled with effective fiscal management skills
  • Strong awareness of competitive landscape and competitor performance
  • Thorough knowledge and familiarity with the electronic component distribution industries
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently with minimal direction
  • Experience with creating and delivering marketplace strategy and solutions
  • Strong representative of sense of accountability and ownership; ability to lead your business and clearly communicate the results back to the organization
  • In-depth knowledge of WMS systems and proven experience in rolling out new systems to large groups
  • Experience in setting up new distribution facilities and integrating existing facilities
  • Able to twist or bend and occasionally climb stairs
  • Able to reach with hands and arms above shoulder level
  • Generally, spend the workday sitting at a workstation and operating computer devices, such as, but not limited to keyboard, mouse and screen
  • Generally, spend the workday performing repetitive motions that involve or affect the hands, head, and other parts of your body

  • 9+ Digi-Key &/or industry experience in Order Fulfillment, people leadership or other relevant work experience
