Senior Architectural Designer Rise Modular is a full volumetric modular technology company serving the multi-family apartment and hospitality development sectors in the Midwest. Its headquarters and this position are based in Minneapolis, Minnesota with its first manufacturing facility in Owatonna, Minnesota. The company expects to grow to multiple manufacturing plants over the next 3 to 5 years. The company is financially supported by a strong family office and is not dependent on venture or private equity capital. In addition, the company's affiliated development arm executes select multi-family development projects as well as partners with other developers to contribute key expertise related to modular technologies and share execution risk. Job Description The primary role of this job is to create multi-disciplinary, coordinated BIM models of building modules manufacture by Rise and used to construct commercial multi-family and hospitality buildings. The Senior Architectural Designer will collaborate with external partners, including architects, mechanical, electrical, plumbing, fire suppression and structural engineers, as well as internal Rise team members to develop the BIM models and to produce drawings for permitting and fabrication of the modules. In conjunction with the primary responsibilities outlined above, the Senior Architectural Designer is expected to contribute to the advancement of Rise project standards and processes related to model development and drawing deliverables. On occasion, the Senior Architectural Designer will also support the Director of Design with various efforts related to marketing new work and managing projects from preconstruction through completion. Responsibilities * Contribute/ to marketing efforts by assisting with presentations and participating in meetings when requested * Support project efforts through all phases, including marketing, preconstruction, fabrication and construction. * Manage 3D models and other digital content received from outside partners * Develop the Rise BIM model(s) in accordance with the contract documents received from the architect and engineer(s) of record * Produce graphic presentations, renderings, shop drawings and submittals, permit drawings, fabrication drawings and other documents as necessary to deliver on the contractual responsibilities assigned to Rise * Collaborate with design team, clients, consultants, contractors, fabricators, regulatory agencies and other vendors to meet overall project objectives * Work to proactively identify issues or concerns (within your area of expertise) that could impact the success of the project and assist in resolving them * Develop solutions to technical and design problems following established standards and/or by creating new standards * May assist team in construction administration document management, i.e. shop drawings and RFI's Attributes * Ability to complete tasks in a timely, efficient manner with minimal supervision and guidance * Strong attention to detail while working to meet aggressive project schedules * Good communication skills, both verbally and in writing * Willing to contribute ideas and input intended to advance internal processes and improve outcomes * Ability to work effectively in a collaborative team environment with design professionals, client representatives, consultants, contractors and Rise team members * Willingness to be flexible with assignments and tasks in a fluid working environment * Self-motivated with a positive can-do attitude * Invested and engaged in the professional success of teammates and the company as a whole * Unquestionable ethical standards and strong work ethic Qualifications * Bachelor's degree in Architecture or Engineering * High level of proficiency in Revit in a working drawings environment (3-5 years) * Proficiency in Microsoft Office products a plus (Outlook, Excel, Word, and PowerPoint) * Familiarity with StrucSoft software a plus, but not mandatory. (Proficiency in this software will be necessary in order to successfully perform this job, but training is available from Rise upon employment.) * Familiarity with BlueBeam and AutoCAD a plus Preferred Skills and Experience * 12-15 years' experience in Architecture, Engineering, Construction or related field * Experience in the design and documentation of commercial wood-framed construction (Type III and Type V) * Familiarity with current standards in multi-family housing design and construction practices, including a working knowledge of model building codes and accessibility requirements * Knowledge of best practices for the design and construction of commercial buildings, including coordination efforts, submittal and review processes * Experience working in a cross-functional team environment across design, engineering, construction and manufacturing * Experience with Modular design or construction is helpful but not required Software Platform * The company uses Revit, BIM360, StrucSoft MWF, BlueBeam Revu, Enscape or 3D Studio Max and other manufacturing software as part of the company's integrated software operating system * Microsoft Office Suite Above all else, our team members should have a positive attitude and be flexible as to job responsibilities.
