Assessment Specialist

Qualifications:

  • A valid MN Special Education Teaching Licensure (multiple licenses preferred: ASD, DCD, EBD, SLD)
  • Knowledge and understanding of child find and special education due process.
  • Knowledge and understanding of the use of special evaluation tools.
  • Skill in planning, organizing and writing IEPs and evaluations in a multi-disciplinary team within timeline constraints.
  • Work well with persons of different cultures, races, and socio-economic backgrounds.
  • Communicate and collaborate effectively orally and in writing with students, school staff, parents, and outside agencies regarding students' special education needs to develop effective school program components.
  • Ability to adhere to due process timelines and complete special education paperwork in compliance with MDE standards.
  • Interpersonal skills, including the ability to work well with others, be polite, helpful, courteous and compassionate.
  • Conflict resolution skills, team player and professional demeanor.
  • Classroom management skills.
  • Ability to work with a wide variety of students in a calm, patient, understanding, creative, flexible, student-centered environment.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality of student information at all times.
  • Ability to follow directives from MSED supervisors.

Qualifications:

  • Valid MN teaching licensure as a School Psychologist
  • Knowledgeable about special education due process procedures and criteria
  • Experience working on a multi-disciplinary team
  • Ability to counsel individuals and small groups
  • Ability to transport self among member districts and to regional and state meetings as necessary.
