Western National is in search of an Automation Engineer to join our team! This role offers a candidate the opportunity to play an important part in our companys software development process. The candidate will be responsible for conducting tests before product launches to ensure software runs smoothly to ensure quality is built into the product. You will also get to explore new technical areas while also sharpening your existing skills.The ideal candidate will have previous Quality Assurance experience and will have working knowledge of test automation in complex and large environments, be passionate about delivering quality products and have experience testing web services. This position works in collaboration within an Agile team supporting integrations and meeting quality objectives and introducing efficiencies and maximizing test coverage. In this role, you will be responsible for the design, execution and validation of test cases based on business needs and ensuring quality standards are achieved.

Responsibilities:
Ability to accurately identify, document, and develop test cases from business requirements.Responsible for the creation, execution, and maintenance of manual and automated test scripts in all stages of application testing to ensure application code is functioning as designed.Contribute to developing enhancements of quality standards and procedures.Contribute to test automation framework and infrastructure.Responsible for maximizing test coverage and reducing testing time. Identify test cases as candidates for automation.Ensure test automation is aligned with Continuous Integration/DevOps efforts.Collaborate with product & development teams and develop plans and estimates for testing projects.Provide clear and timely communications regarding Quality Assurance activities, deliverables and related processes across various levels of the organizations.Actively participate in test defect resolution process, provide defect descriptions, root cause, scope, risks and impact of a problem and recommendations for resolution.Identify defect-prone areas in product and platform architecture; design and provide test coverage. Demonstrate accuracy, thoroughness, and attention to detail, contributing to, and promoting quality.Approach moderately complex problems and possess ability to break them down into manageable pieces.Identify potential modifications/enhancements in the existing applications to meet the changing needs of the business partners. Apply creative technical problem-solving skills when developing improvements and help implement change as required. Applies feedback and takes ownership of tasks at hand, ability to self-prioritize tasks and execute deliverables within given timeline. Asks for and offers help when needed. Regular contact with internal customers across the organization.Some contact with outside customers, including vendors.

Qualifications:
Thorough understanding and experience of applying QA software quality standards, metrics, methodology, and best practices.Understanding of Agile SDLC concepts and CI/CD pipelines in relation to testing.2+ years' experience constructing test cases and executing them across functional, regression or system testing.2+ years identifying tests to be automated creating and executing automated tests.Experience with at least one service testing tool: REST API, Postman.Experience using test management tools (e.g. HPQC, Jira - Zephyr, Jira - Xray).Experience and usage of SQL and Java or other coding languages.Usage of systems that support Continuous Integration (CI systems) - GitLab, Maven, Jenkins, etc.The understanding of different types and levels of testing including services, UI, performance, and security testing and testing frameworks.The understanding and application of testing practices such as TDD, BDD and applicability to different situations.The ability to partner with peers to deliver successful products.The ability to understand and absorb large amounts of information quickly.Ability to communicate clearly and effectively both verbally and in writing to technical and non-technical audiences.Previous Property and Casualty Insurance and related Policy Issuance products a plus.Bachelors degree preferred, experience in lieu of degree is acceptable.Advanced competency and use of various core systems, office and computer equipment and software packages.Western National Insurance is a growing, A+ rated (A.M.
