Admitting Clerk

OverviewCasual Admitting Clerk position, 8-36 hours per pay period. Day/Evening/Night shifts and every other weekend.Supports the customer focused business cycle process by performing the necessary activities to register non-scheduled patients and activate pre-registered patients upon their arrival for services. Accurately collects , analyzes and records the information and completes the access process. Focuses at all times on providing a positive and memorable experience for the patient and other customers while ensuring that the System is able to secure appropriate reimbursement for the services provided. Performs all responsibilities consistently and according to established protocol that incorporates the System's Mission and Values and is committed to exquisite customer service and continuous quality improvement.Responsibilities/Job DescriptionAppropriately and accurately collects and enters required information for all access patients.Fully knowledgeable of, and conducts all activities in accordance with Regulatory Compliance, including but not limited to such issues as Medicare Secondary Payer Screening, EMTALA, 3-Day DRG Bundling, Medical Necessity; and internal Code of Conduct requirements.Fully knowledgeable of, and conducts all activities in accordance with confidentiality and HIPAA requirements.Functions as a relief communications operator. Understands all alarms and codes.QualificationsRequired:High School Diploma or GEDPrevious customer service experienceMust be proficient in computer use.Good interpersonal skills. Excellent written and oral communication. Well organized, detail oriented.Preferred:Clerical experience and prior knowledge of health insurance processingPost-secondary education: AA or AS with medical terminology educationAAHAM CPAT/CCAT and/or NAHAM certification
