Salary: $16.25 - $17.25 hourly, DOE

Qualifications

  • Education: Associates Degree, or two years college and/or highly qualified as a paraprofessional
  • Certification: CPI or Handle with Care certification or willingness to become certified required
  • Experience: Classroom experience preferred

Responsibilities

And Duties
  • Assists with management of SPED student behavior and discipline, primarily for students with disabilities.
  • Uses the classroom management plan consistent with an assigned teacher's techniques and school-wide standards.
  • Undergoes training in managing the behavior of SPED students per IEP requirements.
  • Helps supervise SPED students in all areas of the school including pick-up/drop-off, recess, lunch, etc.
  • Assists teachers with classroom instruction as assigned (individualized instruction, small groups, etc.)
  • Helps teachers accommodate and modify for SPED students with IEPs.
  • Communicates SPED student needs to general and special education teachers when appropriate.
  • Provides performance measurements to classroom teaching mentor to help with SPED student progress.
  • Potentially helps SPED students with health needs based on IEP.
  • Potentially meets with parent/guardians to discuss SPED students' needs and progress.
  • Other duties as assigned.
