Part-Time Accountant

If you're an experienced accountant with a keen eye for accuracy, there's an exciting opportunity through Accountemps for you to check out at a growing firm. As a Staff Accountant, you'll be responsible for preparing journal entries, monthly and year-end closings, bank reconciliation, fixed asset maintenance, and general ledger reconciliation. Many aspects of internal reporting will be your responsibility during the monthly close. Additionally, you'll be participating in compliance, reviewing schedules for the reporting processes, and staying connected with our external auditors for quarterly reviews and annual audits. This position involves a good deal of time spent on producing Financial Statements, Cash Flow projections, and Budgets. The organization offering this multi-faceted short-term temporary opportunity is based in the St. Paul, Minnesota region, and is scheduled to work three days/week.

Your responsibilities

- Be responsible for analysis of income statements and balance sheets and communicate findings to management

- Offer descriptions of a large number of financial data and communicate insights in a useful and understandable manner

- Ad-hoc tasks and special projects, as needed

- Maintain monthly payment schedules

- Complete month end close, journal entries, without supervision

- Be a part of various department-wide initiatives

- Take part the in implementation and adherence to internal controls and accounting procedures, ensuring compliance with GAAP

- Be responsible for account reconciliations including prepaid expenses, payroll, and other assignments

- Partake in annual closing processes

- Support fixed asset ledger, depreciation, and reconciliation

- Accounts Receivable (AR) experience

- Strong familiarity with Microsoft Excel

- Comprehensive knowledge of general ledger

- Accounts Payable (AP) experience

- Journal entries experience preferred

- Experience working in a dynamic and changing company environment a plus

- Seizes opportunities to produce results without direct supervision

- BA/BS or equivalent in Accounting, Finance or Economics

- Working knowledge of spreadsheets and databases

- Recent and relevant accounting experience

- Experience with ERP systems

- Dedication and requisite skills to meet critical business deadlines

- Be detailed, flexible, and organized

- Spreadsheet and database capabilities

- Mature organizational, written and verbal communication skills

- Strong analytical capabilities and discernment
