This is a 12-month, full-time, benefit-eligible, renewable term faculty position at the Professor of Practice rank. This position reports to the Department Head of Construction and Operations Management (COM) and is available starting in August of 2021. The successful candidate will have the opportunity to shape and grow our new CIM program, work with regional industry stakeholders to build awareness of the program and career opportunities, and prepare students for entry-level management positions in the concrete industry sector. SDSU is especially interested in candidates that can contribute to and/or coordinate course offerings that address the experiences of underrepresented minorities in organizations. RESPONSIBILITIES: The CIM Program Director will be expected to maintain a level of performance consistent with faculty standards at SDSU for teaching and advising, service and outreach to the industry. The person hired will have an anticipated workload of 50% teaching/advising, 50% service/outreach and is expected to teach CIM topics such as concrete materials & testing, estimating, plant management, and/or concrete methods & systems. The CIM Program Director will be our liaison to regional concrete industry stakeholders, the CIM National Steering Committee, and will have a dedicated budget for program needs, recruitment, and travel. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: ??? Sponsorship is not available for this position, must be eligible to work in the United States. ??? Earned bachelor's degree in concrete industry management, construction management, business management, engineering, engineering technology or closely related field. ??? 10 years full-time concrete industry employment with at least 5 years of experience in concrete technical services or sales. ??? Must have valid driver's license and be willing to travel. ??? Effective written, verbal and interpersonal communication skills. PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: ??? Graduate degree in concrete industry management, construction, engineering, business administration or other relevant field. ??? Professional licensure or concrete-related certification. ??? Demonstrated potential to teach effectively and/or mentor undergraduate students on careers in the concrete industry. ??? More than 10 years of domestic concrete industry experience. Lohr College of Engineering serving 1500 undergraduate and graduate students. The 15 faculty member COM Department serves 350 students in its undergraduate programs which include Concrete Industry Management, Construction Management, Construction Technology, Operations Management, Electronics Engineering Technology and graduate programs in Operations Management and Engineering.
