POSITION SUMMARY
Veritas Steel is excited to announce we have an amazing career opportunity for a Weekend Shift Production Manager at our Wausau, WI facility. This position reports to the Sr. Production Manager and is responsible for the safe and efficient oversight of multiple areas/departments across shifts.

We are seeking a dynamic individual that has a high level of energy and ability to energize others, is passionate for his/her work, enjoys problem solving and is focused on execution. This position requires a great deal of time and energy on the manufacturing floor working through complex processes and is heavily focused on throughput and efficiency. The successful candidate will be a good motivator and team leader that possesses a positive 'can do' attitude while achieving goals of the highest standards. This team member will provide effective leadership and promote positive working relationships across all functions in the assigned facility and the company.

SAFETY

  • Actively participates in the safety program for the facility.
  • Observes, reports and corrects behaviors that are unsafe.
  • Works with the facility leadership to ensure a safe working environment.
  • Ensures EHS policies and guidelines are met within the department.
  • Coaches, trains, communicates and monitors employees' performance on safety programs.

PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Manages assigned areas/departments within the facility. This includes all work performed in assigned area for all shifts.
  • Responsible for maintaining housekeeping, 5S and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Works closely with the Production Scheduler to understand the production requirements and provide active feedback on gaps as they are identified.
  • Ensures assigned teams is operating within the designed fabrication plans and assists in
  • improvements to the efficiency of the work.
  • Works with HR to ensure a firm understanding of company policies, communicates to teams clearly and leads by example.
  • Effectively plans work and manages labor to ensure efficient execution.
  • Executes schedule with a sense of urgency and with sincere concern for safety, quality, timeliness, impact and cost.
  • Responsible for coaching and the overall performance of assigned leads and team. Actively participates in the recruiting, selecting, training and coaching leads for assigned areas.
  • Gives adequate direction, effectively supervises, counsels employees on performance issues or concerns, aids and/or trains when appropriate. When necessary, initiates disciplinary action.
  • Works with Human Resources to resolve problems as needed.
  • Maintains required documentation on all projects for assigned areas.
  • Communicates with employees regularly and seeks their input on problem solving
  • Assists in the interviewing and hiring process for the facility.

WORK RELATIONSHIPS

  • Reports to the Sr Production Manager
  • Direct Reports include Sr Leads, Leads and other employees in assigned areas.
  • Works closely with other production managers for resource management
  • Works closely with maintenance to keep equipment in working order.
  • Works closely with Quality to ensure no gaps exist in work process
