Qualifications Minimum qualifications: Ph.D. or an equivalent terminal degree in English or a closely related field and a minimum of two years college teaching experiencePreferred qualifications: Three years or more college teaching experience and broad familiarity with English language, literature, and writing About the Job The Department of English in the College of Liberal Arts at the University of Minnesota is accepting applications for part-time positions to teach courses that cannot be staffed by regular faculty or graduate students for openings that may occur in Fall 2020 (August 31, 2020 - January 13, 2021); or Spring 2021 (January 14, 2021 - May 30, 2021). Teaching may be for day or evening courses. Appointments may be renewable based on need, funding, and performance. This does not constitute a posting for vacancies, but establishes a pool of applicants should openings occur during the 2020/21 academic year. Applicants will be selected from this pool on an as-needed basis throughout the academic year.Duties/Responsibilities: Prepare for and teach courses, create course Canvas sites, hold office hours, turn grades in on time, receive official e-mails and respond in a timely manner, submit an activity report, and turn in student evaluations. About the Department The Department of English serves approximately 400 majors and thousands of University of Minnesota undergraduate students. The teaching, scholarship and other creative work of the English faculty covers a broad range that includes literature, language, creative writing, literacy and rhetorical studies, linguistics and cultural inquiry, as well as the theories and documents that inform and critique these disciplines.
