As a Claims Assistant you will perform a variety of functions related to post-closing. You will play a key role supporting the Claims Administrator and Quality Coordinator by responding to claims inquires, follow up on post-closing escrows, and assisting with new construction lien audits.
Responsibilities:
Investigates and assists in processing claim inquiries for routine letter of indemnity and routine lien release matters to eliminate title objections or resolve title insurance claims.
Prepares and records lien releases (including electronic recording) necessary to clear title issues. Tracks follow up and provides updates to customer or company making inquiry.
Provides support and assistance to Closing Department on questions relating to title underwriting and document production.
Audit new construction documents prior to closing to assess potential mechanics lien risk, liability and compliance with underwriting guidelines. May assist Quality Coordinator with new construction disbursement files.
May assist Claims Administrator by assigning files to outside counsel for resolution of title defects that require judicial action. Monitor and report progress of action by acting as liaison with outside counsel and Claims Administrator. Qualifications:
Education: Associates degree in business or other legal training or equivalent education and work experience.
Experience: 2-4 years real estate or title insurance experience, including new construction and closing procedures, strongly preferred.
Skills:
Ability to independently assess files over a variety of platforms for issues and resolution of title issues.
Ability to audit new construction files and assist with disbursements as needed.
Must possess superior communication skills.
Must be able to work independently and efficiently with minimal supervision. Must understand necessity for good customer service skills, including but not limited to timely response, continued communication with customer. Must possess the ability to work with all customers (buyers, sellers, realtors, lenders, attorneys and other title companies).
