Position Information:
  • The NDSU Potato Pathology team is looking for motivated individuals to help assist in daily small plot field research. Individuals will gain valuable training in pest identification, plant diseases, experimental design, operation of small-plot equipment, and collaborative work.

Primary responsibilities will include:
  • Assist in all aspects of field research including preparing field plots, planting, trial maintenance, data recording, taking photos, plant and soil sampling and harvesting trials.
  • Assist with mixing and application of crop protection products.
  • Assist with greenhouse and lab work.

Minimum Qualifications:
  • Must be able to work independently or as part of a team.
  • Must be able to follow detailed instructions.
  • Must be able to physically perform duties under highly variable conditions.
  • Willingness to work outdoors in various weather conditions.
  • Willingness to work 40+ hrs./week. Also work some evenings and weekends.
  • Ability to lift 75 lbs. and ability to walk on uneven ground for long distances.
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills together with the ability to operate in a safe, efficient manner.
  • Must have a valid U.S. driver's license.
  • Mechanical skills very helpful.

Duration:
  • Immediate employment. Flexible hours for spring and fall semester.

Salary:
  • $12+ per hour depending upon experience.
  • Ample opportunity for overtime.
  • Travel expenses paid, vehicle provided for work related travel.
