North American Mechanical, Inc. has an opportunity for a Mechanical Engineer or Designer in our Windsor office (located just north of Madison WI). This hire would participate in all facets of CAD/BIM activities for NAMI. Qualified candidates should have at least 8 years of HVAC design and/or CAD experience in commercial building construction.
Essential Duties and Tasks:
- Work in close contact with the internal design, construction and service teams
- Support the NAMI engineering team under the supervision of senior engineers
- Design a wide variety of HVAC systems including the performance of load calculations, selection of systems, selection and sizing of equipment and sizing and routing of air, water, and steam distribution systems
- Create HVAC drawings utilizing 3D CAD software
- Have the aptitude and desire to create spooling drawings from HVAC designs
- Have the aptitude and desire to coordinate HVAC designs with other trades in 3D
- Participate in and oversee QA/QC processes for your work and the work of others
- Participate in construction administration and field investigation tasks
- Participate in the processing of Submittals, RFI's, Change Orders, Bulletins, Addenda and Record Drawings
- Be willing to assist in the functional testing and commissioning of HVAC systems
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:
- Possess a basic understanding of the proper applications of HVAC systems
- Exhibit proficiency in MS Office software
- Exhibit a proficiency in or a desire to obtain proficiency in MS Power Point and Project
- Demonstrate an ability to use TRACE for load calculations and energy modeling
- Demonstrate an ability to use AutoCAD MEP and REVIT
- Exhibit a thorough understanding of applicable building codes
- Possess a Professional Engineer's License or a Designer's License, or possess the ability and desire to obtain such a license
- Experience working on Healthcare, Laboratory and other highly technical projects would be helpful
- Experience in Plumbing design would be helpful
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering or Associate Degree in Mechanical Design
- 8 or more years of relevant HVAC experience (design and/or construction)
- Current Professional license is preferred
- LEED Accreditation is desirable
- Proficiency in MS Excel, Outlook and Word
- Proficiency in AutoCAD MEP and Revit
- Proficiency in TRACE
