Position Information

Clinic Manager Graduate Assistantship

The Clinic Manager will be primarily responsible for the following duties in support of the NDSU Counselor Education master's and Ph.D. graduate programs. The Clinic Manager will report to the faculty member coordinating the NDSU Community Counseling Services clinic.

Clinic Manager Duties

  • Meet with Clinic Director at least once per week to discuss overall administration of the clinic
  • Oversee Titanium and Blackboard operations
  • Monitor NDSU CCS voicemail and phone (e.g., screen prospective clients, schedule intakes, communicate information to perspective clients and community agencies, manage referrals, reschedule appointments)
  • Assist in creating, reviewing and revising clinic forms, handbooks, and manuals with Clinic Director and Clinical Supervisor
  • Compile data for NDSU CCS including contact records, hours logs, student paperwork, client demographics, client and student appointments, etc.
  • Maintain and monitor confidential client and students records
  • Keep NDSU CCS supplied with appropriate forms and other materials
  • Monitor appropriate use and care of recording equipment and other technologies
  • Orient student to NDSU CCS including facilitating new practicum student orientation and assisting with special events such as information sessions
  • Collect fees and submit receipts for expenditures weekly
  • Publicize, market, and conduct outreach for NDSU CCS to recruit new clients, as directed
  • Audit NDSU CCS counseling files
  • Regularly update faculty and clinical students on any changes or important annoucments


Requirements

Enrolled master or doctoral student in NDSU Counselor Education and Supervision programs in good academic standing, which must be maintained through the assistantship. Successful completion of CNED 794A (masters practicum).

Excellent communication skills, time management, and interpersonal effectiveness. Must demonstrate ability to work with the public and to perform under stressful situations. Must be able to follow clinic protocols.

Hours

The Clinic Manager works 20 hours per week during the fall semester and spring semester. It is expected that the Clinic Manager maintains consistent office hours at least four days a week, unless negotiated with the Clinic Dirctor. It is preferred that the majority of office hours are maintained during NDSU CCS hours of operation, which are Monday-Thursday 10:00a-7:00p.

Compensation

This is a Graduate Assistant position. The Clinic Manager will be compensated by tuition remission for appropriated courses and a monthly stipend ($1,200). The compensation will be treated as taxable income, and taxes will be due on the tuition equivalent.

Term of Employment

This position begins August 23, 2021 and ends May 18, 2022.

Program faculty will review applications. Applicants will be expected to interview with faculty for the position via Zoom. Final selection will be made by mutual consent of the faculty. In the absence of well-qualified applicants, this position may remain open until filled.

Assistantship appointments may vary in length and are contingent upon the availability of funding. Terms on duties and responsibilities will be provided on the graduate assistantship contract.
  • Students must be registered for graduate credit each semester (fall and spring) they receive an assistantship and must be in good academic standing and maintaining satisfactory progress toward their degree. In addition, international students must maintain the appropriate residency status.
  • Teaching assistants whose native language is not English must demonstrate English proficiency (refer to section titled "English Language Proficiency Procedures for Graduate Teaching Assistants").
  • Students offered a graduate teaching or graduate service assistantship must consent to a criminal background check. This includes graduate researchers teaching in a lab.
  • Students placed on Academic Warning may retain their assistantship. Students placed on Probation may no longer receive an assistantship.
  • Required annual training must be completed within 30 days of start date and yearly thereafter.
