Minneapolis College is seeking a full-time Instructional Designer in the MnSCU Academic Professional 3 unclassified service.

This is a two-year position.

The Instructional Designer will be instrumental in helping faculty in Career and Technical Education (CTE) and other programs of study create highly engaging and effective online and blended learning experiences as Minneapolis College shifts content delivery to online and blended methods. The instructional designer will create and delivery training workshops, courses and events for faculty, and provide drop-in support for CTE and other faculty teaching online or using D2L for face-to-face classes.

This position will lead the expansion of online and blended degrees and courses. This position will provide a comprehensive program of instructional design and Learning Management System (LMS) services and support for faculty that includes best practices in pedagogy. The position will work directly with Center for Teaching and Learning (CTL) and the Campus Academic Technology Team (CATT) to set institutional goals and design and deliver training for faculty.

Required Qualifications

* Master's degree in instructional design, educational technology, or a related field, and two years of related work experience; or a combination of education and experience sufficient to perform the duties of the position.
* Online course design and development experience in a not-for-profit higher education setting.
* Experience with pedagogy related to culturally responsive course design.
* Experience with a variety of instructional technologies including learning management systems, web conferencing, collaboration, and lecture capture.
* Experience developing and delivering training sessions, both face-to-face and online.
* Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

Preferred Qualifications

* Five years experience with D2L learning management system.
* Direct experience working with career and technical fields and/or lab sciences.
* Ability to conduct reviews of existing blended/online courses using Quality Matters rubric or another assessment tool.
* Completion of Quality Matters or other similar certification.
* Experience designing instructional materials and media that meet ADA/accessibility standards.
* Teaching or related experience in a higher education setting.
* Knowledge of academic structures and values.
* Two or more years teaching online courses.

Placement within the salary range for the MnSCU Academic Professional 3 is determined on the basis of relevant experience and education and in accordance with the 2019 - 2021 Minnesota Association of Professional Employees (MAPE) Agreement with the State of Minnesota.
