Typical Day in the Life

The Unified Communications Engineer is responsible for designing and developing new UCC solutions, improving the performance and scalability of existing systems, helping define security standard methodologies and developing innovative, cutting edge tools for front office voice, video, and contact center. Maintains awareness of the latest trends and developments in unified communications. Collaborates and partners with other IT infrastructure teams.

A typical day as a Unified Communications Engineer might include:
  • Applying knowledge and previous experience in Unified Communications technology to lead Microsoft Teams requirements analysis, design and architecture in the planning stages of a project.
  • Performing configuration, testing, and deployment of all Unified Communications roles and related technologies.
  • Staying current with new conferencing/collaboration technologies and architectures.
  • Reviewing and analyzes detailed project documentation and requirements documentation to ensure the solution meets the needs of our staff.
  • Analyzing and interprets data captures, process output, and technical information to perform troubleshooting of lab or production environments.
  • Applying good time management skills with the ability to prioritize and manage multiple complex tasks at the same time.
  • Developing and maintains comprehensive technical documentation pertaining to the implementation, engineering, and optimization of Enterprise UC services.
  • Communicating proactively and effectively with customers.
  • Participating in Microsoft Teams consulting, implementation, and/or migration projects




Who You Are
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science or a related technical discipline preferred.
  • 2+ years of experience in information technology systems, applications or support.
  • 3+ years of direct client facing support experience providing outstanding customer service.
  •  Experience in the area of local and wide area networking, telecommunications, and related hardware and software preferred.
  • Experience with PC hardware and software required.
  • Experience with Microsoft products is preferred.
  • Experience with Microsoft Teams, Skype for Business and other telecommunications provider solutions desired.
  • Certifications related to Microsoft Exchange Server, and/or Microsoft Skype for business Server preferred.
  • Working knowledge of a wide variety of digital application technologies to effectively support clients’ technical needs.
  • Proficiency in the documentation of UC systems and their required services in both word, pdf, and drawing formats (Visio) are required.
  • Basic knowledge of networking concepts.
  • Ability to identify and resolve conflicts between technology and business objectives.
  • Ability to design, implement, and manage VoIP solutions, Microsoft Exchange/Teams, and Windows Server.
  • Strong technical background in the area of Microsoft infrastructure, Microsoft Active Directory, Microsoft Exchange, networking, storage, and Microsoft Windows Server.
  • Demonstrated ability to problem solve, identify alternative solutions, and communicate best practices
  • Demonstrated knowledge of Microsoft’s messaging and collaboration products.
  • Professional presentation and communications skills.
  • Ability to work independently and in a team environment.
  • Ability to communicate clearly verbally and in writing.
  • Ability to work on multiple projects and meet deadlines by setting priorities with work projects.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with co-workers and clients.
  • Ability to travel as needed.

Must be authorized to work in the United States permanently without the requirement of sponsorship at any point in the future.
