Dynamic HR Intern – Summer 2021

Butler Machinery has an awesome opportunity for a summer HR/Training Intern at our Corporate office in South Fargo. We are looking for an enthusiastic and driven Human Resources Intern for the summer of 2021 to join our high-energy HR and Training team! We're committed to being an employer of choice in the Fargo area and throughout the tri-state area. This position will report to the HR Generalist and help support the HR and Training department's projects.

This is a paid, part-time, non-benefited position. Start date dependent on availability of successful candidate but no later than June 1st. 

Butler Machinery is the authorized Caterpillar dealer for North Dakota and South Dakota with 14 locations in North and South Dakota. Butler Ag Equipment has 4 locations in Nebraska.  Butler offers Caterpillar products and services to support the construction and Ag industry and is proud to represent many manufacturers including: FENDT, AGCO, Drago, Challenger, Horsch, Killbros, Balzer and more.

As a family business for three generations, we currently employ over 800 associates in 18 locations throughout North Dakota, South Dakota and Nebraska. We are looking for self-motivated, forward-thinking individuals to join us in our continued success.

Responsibilities: Main project during this internship will be writing and updating job descriptions and postings across all areas of operations. Will also build database of interview questions and assist with development of supervisor training material around recruitment and interviewing. May spend some time assisting with onboarding implementation processes.   

We will ensure the successful candidate has some exposure to EEO-1 and Affirmative Action reporting as well as to the company benefits as time permits. 

Requirements & Competencies: Successful candidate will be a junior or senior level college student majoring in Business Administration with emphasis in the field of Human Resources and/or Training and Development. Will be outgoing and willing to interact with all levels of team members within the organization. Must be able to work independently and in a group as a team while working on project assignments. Must be willing to work within the core business hours of 8-5 pm Mon-Fri. Hours per week will depend on projects/assignments and likely be around 25-40 hours/week.

Strong verbal and written communication skills 

Enjoy creating, developing and implementing 

Excellent organizational skills, ability to prioritize and have great attention to detail

Creativity in writing skills should be a strength 

Proficiency in Microsoft products in required
