Position Information

Position Description & Details: The Administrative Assistant provides specialised administrative support to all of the programs within the NDSU Department of Animal Sciences. The position also acts as the primary assistant to the department head.

Responsibilities: The wide range of responsibilities includes, but is not limited to the following:
  • Perform departmental receptionist responsibilities including answering telephones and greeting customers
  • Perform administrative support duties including:
    • Day-to-day clerical tasks for departmental faculty, staff and students
    • Collect, distribute and coordinate shipments
    • Assist students with course registration and other related tasks
    • Provide support to the department head including scheduling, document preparation, ensuring university deadlines are met, and maintaining files
  • Website management and other public relations functions, including updating/redesigning and maintaining the department's website; evaluating incoming correspondence and distributing as approvpriate; updating social media
  • Review and recommend guidelines and procedures to ensure compliance with all NDSU, state, and federal policies
  • Perform other duties as assigned and necessary

Work Schedule: Full-time; 8am -5pm, 12 month

Advertised Salary: $40,000+/year

Minimum Qualifications:
  • Minimum of 4 years directly related working experience
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Excellent organizational skills
  • Experience using Digital meeting platforms
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite - Word, Excel, Powerpoint, Outlook, Adobe and the Internet
  • Ability to work in a team setting and independently
  • Ability to mangage mulitple projects and meet dealines

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree
  • Experience with Campus Connection/PeopleSoft
  • Experience with website maintenance and/or website creation
  • Knowledge of university policies and procedures
  • Experience working with a diverse group of students, faculty and staff
