Financial Planning Assistant
Classification: Financial Analyst - Entry Level
Compensation: $15.00 to $16.00 hourly
Our client is looking to fill a temporary to permanent Financial Planning Assistant. The Financial Planning Assistant will work with financial advisors in many aspects of the financial planning process including reviewing, analyzing, and preparing financial analyses and spreadsheets for clients. This person will review financial documents, insurance policies, tax return, wills and other client documents used in the financial planning process. This is a non- client facing role that is working on analyst computer work 90% of the day.
1. Planning Analyst Work:
a. Retrieve and print client data needed to prepare assigned client appointment reports.
b. Review and interpret client's financial statements, employer benefit and retirement plan statements, legal documents and any other data needed in order to be able to input data into spreadsheets and financial planning software accurately and efficiently.
c. Follow up with clients by phone or letter as necessary to request any missing data.
d. Prepare all assigned Portfolio Management Tool or PMT (Software used to create investment performance reports) and Portfolio Balance reports for semi-annual planning clients and annual non-planning clients in Excel for client appointments.
e. Prepare all assiged annual NaviPlan Review documents in Excel. The Planning Analyst should be able to complete the NaviPlan using internal statements and reports and the client worksheet containing financial data the client provides. The analyst should also be able to add comments, strategies and recommendations utilizing the NaviPlan paragraph template and their own ideas. The NaviPlan should be completed proficiently and with limited advisor input.
f. Prepare all new financial plans using the corporate provided financial planning software (currently NaviPlan) according to the NaviPlan procedure and checklist developed by advisors and planning analysts of the firm. Adhere to specific time standards that have been established to provide timely efficient processing of financial plans for clients.
2. Client Appointment Report Preparation Responsibilities:
a. Prepare PMT reports, S & P stock reports, and Morningstar mutual fund reports as needed and/or requested by financial advisors.
b. Assemble PMT, NaviPlan Reviews or NaviPlan plans, proposals, reports and prospectuses for advisor
presentation to clients during their appointments.
d. Coordinate additional requests with Client Service Managers, i.e. insurance illustrations and financial planning agreements.
3. Complete any other appropriate tasks as requested.
- Less than one year of experience required
- Adeptness in back office support
- Practical knowledge of investments
- General familiarity with investment portfolio
- Financial analysis experience preferred but not required
- Candidate must have substantial computer experience including word processing, spreadsheets and presentation software, as well as databases and customer database systems
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- BA/BS degree in finance or a related field
- High attention to detail and possesses excellent organizational and writing skills
- Capable of working independently with minimal oversight
