Job Information

This position develops and maintains online and in-person training content for the Bobcat Company product training team. 

Primarily this position will work in a team environment with internal stakeholders and subject matter experts to develop and maintain strategic product-specific training information that is used to inform and educate dealers about Bobcat products.  The position will also be responsible for content maintenance, and ongoing training content planning and resource alignment. 

The Instructional Designer is also responsible for researching and identifying training trends, new methodology, technology, and best practices within their functional area, analyzing findings, and participate in the development of programs and curriculums. 
 

Role & Responsibility

Content Development
  • Develop clear, objective-driven content that educates, informs, creates interest, and encourages action from audiences.
  • Develop content that increases product knowledge in alignment with company goals.
  • Route drafted content through appropriate internal channels for edits and approvals.
  • Work with subject matter experts to refine drafted material into finished training deliverables that are in alignment with Bobcat message framework.

Basic Graphic Design
  • Create basic graphics that align with brand, message, and audience in order to complement and enhance written messages.
  • Work with outside agencies to implement projects to deliver defined training content.

Instructional Design – Learning Management System 
  • Work with SME’s to develop programs and curriculum to increase effectiveness and impact for adult learners.
  • Develop, implement, and maintain educational products in all media types, including video, online, and in-person.
  • Plan and design instructional material (lessons, assessment items, art, animation, etc.).
  • Identify short- and long-term development needs of products and product lines.
  • Write and edit instructional material (lessons, assessment items, art, animation, etc.).

Cross-Departmental Collaboration
  • Partner with internal key stakeholders such as program teams, service teams, IT, marketing, communication, safety, and legal to achieve correct messaging and program goals. 

Project Management
  • Maintain records and data of all training and related certifications and qualifications.
  • Lead appropriate resources, such as outside agencies, to efficiently and effectively complete tasks and projects on time.
  • Develop schedules, tasks, and plans to drive projects and communication plans forward.
     


Job Requirement

  • Education Required: Bachelor’s Degree in Instructional design or related field.
  • Experience Required: 3 - 7 years with ability to provide portfolio of work at the time of interview; portfolio includes examples of content editing and development capabilities.
  • Proven competency in Microsoft Office Suite, including Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and OneDrive.  Adobe Suite experience preferred.
  • Experience with Articulate360, Camtasia, E-Learning Management Systems, Storyline, or similar system strongly preferred.
  • Exceptional B2B writing skills, including interviewing sources.
  • Ability to consistently meet tight deadlines and prioritize work effectively.
  • Ability to problem solve and anticipate downstream impact of all actions.
  • Ability to both strategically plan and pay close attention to details.
  • Ability to learn new tools and systems, including new technology. Seeks out new ideas and approaches. 
  • Initiative to proactively identify needs, process improvements, and opportunities within the business/area of responsibility. Challenges the status quo of products, technologies, services, work processes, and systems
  • Demonstrates strong decision-making skills and is capable of self-direction.

What skills, education, and experiences does your ideal candidate(s) have?

•Education Required: High School Diploma or Equivalent

•Must be able to follow established methods and procedures and perform work accordingly. Must have the ability to work rapidly and under time pressure for extended periods of time in order to meet build requirements. Must possess the ability to read build sheets and blueprints.
•The ability to communicate with supervisors and fellow workers in both written and verbal forms at a level normally acquired through the completion of a high school diploma or GED is required.
•Job specific skills, techniques and safe work and equipment operating practices are learned through on-the-job and classroom training. General instructions are given on recurring duties, operations and assignments; detailed instructions are given on new duties, operations and assignments.
