Experienced Controller - (For Profit) Business Operations - MilwaukeeWe are looking for a detail-oriented Controller to join the Business Operations practice in our Milwaukee office. As a member of CLA's BizOps practice, you will be an integral part of the CLA client service team and will work directly with our client's to provide customized accounting services to support them as they manage and grow their business or organization.In this role, you will work independently at client locations and report directly to the Principal in charge of the client relationship. You will be responsible for supervising the accounting team on each engagement which may include a combination of CLA staff and client staff. You are responsible for delivering timely and accurate financial statements and statistical information to the client's leadership team as well as implementing financial and operational best practices related to the client's specific industry.This position provides an outstanding opportunity to grow your career as you contribute to the success of clients' businesses or organizations. This is a full-time, long-term career opportunity serving multiple CLA clients on a permanent, part-time basis; it is not an outsourced temporary position.Job Description:Assist the accounting team to record complex transactionsReview complex account reconciliations prepared by the accounting teamComplete the monthly, quarterly, and annual adjusting and closing process.Adhere to the client's organizational policies and procedures, federal and state policies and directives, and current accounting standards.Provide detailed review of the general ledger, financial statements and required work papersPrepare work papers for the independent auditors, if applicableAnalyze and interpret financial information and regularly present to the client's leadershipDevelop budgets, analyze variances and implement corrective actions as neededReview payroll and payroll tax complianceEducation/Experience:BA/BS degree in accounting or related field required.3-5 years relevant work experience as a Controller or equivalent is required.Accounting back office experience is required.Relevant experience in Retail and/or Manufacturing & Distribution industries is highly preferred , but not requiredPublic accounting experience preferred but not required.CPA certification is preferred but not required.Aptitude for developing and maintaining a thorough working knowledge of accounting software and systems.
