Director of Nursing

Keystone Bluffs Assisted Living is currently hiring for a Full-Time Director of Nursing.

The Director of Nursing oversees nursing staff, clinical staff, supervise all clinical affairs to ensure compliance with State and Federal rules/regulations. Training of all new clinical staff, including return demonstration.

Responsibilities:

• Completes initial assessment of potential residents to assure that their needs can be met.
• Completes the assessment on admission according to State of MN rules and regulations.
• Assures clients maintain admission criteria, reassess and recommend alternative placement if necessary.
• Implements service agreements with all new clients.
• Assures that clients have up-to-date Medical/Functional Assessments.
• Monitors and maintains client charts and clinical progress notes.
• Facilities coordination of client services with other service providers.
• Assures proper and positive communication with physicians, home-care agencies, and social workers/discharge planners when coordinating client needs.
• Responsible for oversight of ordering medications/renewals as well as any necessary follow-up with physicians regarding medications and/or medical conditions.
• Assures that medication administration procedures are followed properly and discusses any needed corrections, errors, etc. with staff.
• Assure that medications are safely stored and destroyed, documents disposal of medications.
• Ensure completion of supervisory visits 14 days after admission.
• Provides health and medication training and return demonstration to all new employees, as well as continued health and medical training to assure compliance with state, federal and local regulations.
• Supervises medication practices and medical equipment being used in the building.
• Assures that staff clearly understand and follow all client care procedures.
• Serves as Keystone Bluff's Infection Control Nurse for Tuberculosis Infection Controls.
• Assures all physician orders are implemented within 24 hours.
• Monitors staff for accuracy of monthly client blood pressures, weights, pulse, and temperature as needed.
• Shares client and family concerns with Administrator and pertinent staff when appropriate.
• Assists in the development and implementation of policies and procedures.
• Ability to understand budgets and implement change to meet goals.
• Develop and maintain a team orientated atmosphere that focuses on teaching, mentoring, and coaching.
• Works with the Administrator to ensure that emergency procedures are in place.
• Assures compliance with regulations and is available to assist with State Surveys.

Requirements:

• Flexible and willing to adapt to changes in the Assisted Living Industry.
• Knowledge of or willingness to learn the Minnesota Regulations of Assisted Living.
• Must be available by telephone for medical/care questions and/or emergencies.
• 5-10 Years previous nursing experience.
• Previous leadership experience.
• Registered and licensed with the State of MN as an RN and must maintain current licensure.
• Must have a valid driver's license.
• Regular and consistent attendance.

Physical Demands/Environmental Exposure:

• Must be able to move throughout the work day and throughout the building.
• Must have adequate vision and hearing to meet the requirements of this position.
• Must be able to cope with the mental and emotional stress of the position.
• Exposure to body fluids, infection, odors, and client behaviors.

Education:

• Associates Degree or Bachelor's degree in Registered Nursing from an accredited college.
Salary Range:

• Commensurate with education/experience

Qualifications

Must be a licensed RN in the State of Minnesota. Experience in leadership recommended. Experience in small group settings recommended. Must understand the vulnerable adults act. Must complete and pass a criminal background study.
