GSSC is privately owned and locally operated, seeking an experienced Electronic Security Technician based out of Minneapolis to join our growing team! The Electronic Security Technician has responsibilities to include, but are not limited to, performing installation, startup and closeout of all jobs, assisting System Engineers in design, and other tasks as assigned by Project Managers.

Summary:

Reporting to the Electronic Protection Group (EPG) Operations Manager, the Electronic Security Technician is responsible for the service and installation of electronic security technology that supports our clients' security needs. The Electronic Security Technician also reports to Project Managers for day-to-day tasks. Electronic Security Technicians are responsible for the installation, troubleshooting and maintenance of electronic communication systems, including but not limited to: Intercom, Security/Access Control, CCTV, and Fire Alarm. The Electronic Security Technician is responsible for installing and servicing the systems in the most efficient and effective manner to assure minimum down time and maximum performance. All installations and service must meet the highest quality standards set forth by GSSC while assuring a professional and safe working environment. The Electronic Security Technician is responsible for communicating system performance and configuration to the customer.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Installs and pulls wire, as per specifications
  • Installs, mounts and wires equipment used in systems
  • Tests all equipment after termination is made to ensure performance of system
  • Verifies signal, system testing and troubleshooting
  • Educates and trains customer on system operation and functionality
  • Communicates daily with Project Manager on delays, requirements and general status of jobs
  • Ensures all jobs are executed within each phase's estimate. Collaborates with Sales when change orders are required.
  • Works with Systems Engineer on startup to ensure complete system compliance
  • Works with Project Managers to ensure complete closeout and turnover of jobs to client
  • Manages individual truck stock inventory, materials, tools and company equipment
  • Responsible for reading and interpreting wiring diagrams, schematics and blueprints
  • Full compliance with company's and customer's safety program
  • Responsible for handling on-call duties on a regular basis
  • Assists with preventative maintenance of customer equipment
  • Positively represents GSSC to customers with consistent professionalism
  • All other duties as assigned

Minimum qualifications include the following:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • Associate degree required or 2+ years of related experience (including Burglary, Access, Fire, CCTV, and other systems) and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Hold, or obtain, MN PLT within 12 months of employment
  • Basic computer skills and proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook and PowerPoint.
  • Ability to establish credibility throughout the organization as an effective listener, problem solver and leader
  • Flexible, adaptable and a proven ability to manage change in a growth-oriented environment
  • Strong conflict management and problem-solving skills
  • Excellent written, presentation, and oral communication skills

  • Hold a valid state driver's license with a clean driving record
  • Must pass a background check
  • Must be able to work in all types of settings: i.e., new construction, commercial buildings etc.
  • Must be able to see, hear, speak and write clearly in order to communicate with employees and/or other customers; manual dexterity required for occasional reaching, climbing, and lifting of objects, and operating power tools and office equipment.

  • Computer/Networking experience
  • Fire experience
