Our client in the northeast metro is looking for a part-time Accounting Specialist. This is an on site role that will be roughly 20 hours a week. There is flexibility on what hours look like (3, 4, or 5 day schedule all available). Direct hire position and pays anywhere from $23-$30/hour D.O.E.

Job Summary

This position provides accounting support with daily accounting practices and procedures for the organization. The Accounting Specialist is responsible for accounts payable and receivable, entering data, consolidating billing, reviewing daily entries and collecting data for all accounting processes. The successful candidate demonstrates knowledge of general accounting principles, strong communication skills and acts as a point of contact for external parties.

Responsibilities
  • Enters daily information in the accounting system, verifies data and completes account receivables and payable activities and completes accounting reports. They execute A/P payment and on occasion may execute A/R.
  • Assists with general accounting requirements
    • Coordinates bank reconciliation and cash management workbooks
    • Assist with month-end close processes including, but not limited to account reconciliations, journal entries, carryforward schedules and other items as needed
    • Complete transaction accounting such as accounts receivable, accounts payable, general ledger, fixed assets
    • Create controls for accounts receivable and accounts payable ensuring accurate, thorough and complete transactions and processes
  • Internal controls and support
    • Act as a resource for accounting and other department employees
    • Assist with insurance, benefits, regulatory compliance and legal requests
    • Assist with expense reimbursement
  • Help provide financial information and reports to departments leads
    • Monthly, quarterly and annual reports
    • Reports requested by internal users
  • Assist with coordination of external professional service providers and systems
    • Assist with system utilization of accounting software (e.g. Smart Soft, Great Plains or ERP)
    • Assist with compliance with all external corporate reporting
QualificationsKnowledge
  • Must demonstrate knowledge of accounting principles
  • Must have strong mathematical and analytical skills to provide meaningful reporting, problem solving solutions and process improvements
  • Must have strong written and verbal communication
Experience
  • 2 years accounting and ERP software system experience
  • Agricultural, Grain Commodities and Supply Chain knowledge practices preferred
  • Experience with Great Plains accounting software preferred
  • Knowledge of Sage Asset management software
  • Comfortable operating in a dynamic, changing, and lean operating environment.
Education
  • Minimum Associate Degree, Preferred Bachelor's Degree -Accounting or related field
