Accounting Assistant Responsibilities:

Accounting Assistant Responsibilities:
- Providing support to the Accounting Department.
- Performing basic office tasks, such as filing, data entry, answering phones, processing the mail, etc.
- Handling communications with clients and vendors via phone, email, and in-person.
- Processing invoices, issuing checks, accounting for cash receipts, and updating associated ledgers.
- Preparing reports and account analysis.
- Assisting with audits, fact checks, and resolving discrepancies.
- Maintains an updated knowledge base of any regulatory issues associated with main job function.
- Serves as back-up to the Receptionist position.
- Completes process for complying with the proper regulatory agency (filing & paying sales taxes, maintaining W-9's, filing 1099's, maintaining tax exempt certificates, etc.).
- Assist Purchasing with AVL records for vendors.
- Minimum Education: Post high school (associate or bachelor's degree/ vocational or business school certification)
- Minimum Experience: 2-5 years accounting experience in a manufacturing industry. (cGMP manufacturing environment in the medical device or pharmaceutical industry preferred)
- Proficiency with computers and accounting software, strong typing & 10 key skills
- Exceptional time management and verbal and written communication skills
- Familiarity with generally accepted accounting principles
- Professional manner and strong ethical code
- Ability to multi-task and remain motivated and positive
- Commitment to working efficiently and accurately
- Knowledge of auditing procedures to verify the accuracy of data
- Knowledge of sales/use tax rules for manufacturers
- Prefers independent work
- Ability to problem solve
- $23-25/hr DOE
