The Electrical Controls Designer is responsible for designing, developing, and maintaining electrical control systems for custom industrial deburring, parts washing, metal finishing machines and panel building equipment. In this position you will work on multiple equipment projects and be responsible for the electrical related aspects of each project, from design to installation and commissioning.

We use SolidWorks electrical software to model various electrical components, enclosures, panel layouts and wiring schematics as needed for new designs and re-design of existing machines. Our Electrical Designer/Technician will work with various customer-submitted industrial equipment specifications as they relate to the electrical portion of the equipment order, write programmable logic controller (PLC) programs along with programs for operator touch screens that are used in the machines, inspect the electrical portion of used equipment that is returned for rebuild, confer with vendors and work with purchasing to specify electrical components needed for projects, and work with customers during equipment build and commissioning. You may have the opportunity to travel (domestically and internationally) in order to troubleshoot and service equipment in the field.

Responsibilities:
Design functional electrical systems through the development and testing of various components.
Research electrical equipment and systems.
Devise testing methods and properties to confirm the functionality of electrical components and systems.
Develop electrical products and systems to meet customer specifications.
Research manufacturing processes to find innovative processes to improve or modify current methods.
Work closely with and communicate engineering information with various stakeholders to facilitate successful completion of projects.
Performs various engineering calculations using algebraic, trigonometric, and geometric formulas.
Uses standard product engineering data to develop product configuration.
Utilize SolidWorks and other computer aided design techniques to perform design work.
Inspect equipment installations and observe operations to ensure compliance with design and equipment specifications ensuring all safety standards are met.
Participate in experimental manufacture and testing of finished product.

Working hours: 8:00 AM - 5:00 PM

Skills:
-Experience with three-phase industrial electrical system design and a general working knowledge of industrial machinery is required.
-Experience in wiring and panel building strongly preferred.
-Previous experience in programming and troubleshooting a variety of PLC?s and operator touch screens is preferred.
-Computer skills to include a working knowledge of SolidWorks and Microsoft Office products.
-Knowledge of ISO/QS certification ? preferably with and through ISO/QS certification.
-Ability to analyze problems and select proper corrective action.
-Excellent written and verbal communications.
-Ability to organize tasks and work independently.

Associate

Experience:
1-4 years

Qualifications:
A degree in electrical engineering, electrical engineering technology, design/drafting or related field.
