Accounting Assistant

For the past 5 generations CA Lawton has produced castings and machined components for North America. Our quality castings provide strength and design integrity for equipment in the most demanding applications in the world. Because of strict controls and adherence to the Lawton process, we have developed into one of the best large casting iron and ductile iron foundries in North America.
With our growth and stability, we are looking to add a motivated, knowledgeable, and positive minded Accounting Assistant to our team at our De Pere, WI location.
What you will do
The Accounting Assistant is responsible for the full range of accounts receivable and accounts payable processing. They will also perform various other transactional duties, generate reports, conduct specialized research projects, and respond to inquiries.

Job Requirements:

• Additional Duties (but not limited to):
  
  • Responsible for preparation of financial statements and supporting schedules according to monthly close schedule; includes assisting with the analysis of variances to forecast and budget
  • Facilitates and completes monthly close procedures; includes preparing and posting journal entries
  • Routinely analyzes revenues and expenses to ensure they are recorded appropriately
  • Prepares monthly account reconciliations; includes having a sound understanding of the purpose of the account and assisting management in determining whether accruals and reserves are adequate
  • Perform bank reconciliations for checking and payroll accounts.
  • Assists with financial and tax audits, internal control monitoring
  • Forecasting, planning and various bank activities
  • Fixed Assets, inventory control/support and project log management
  • Payroll processing, analysis and answering employee or management questions
  • Processing of customer invoices, shipment invoices, month end manual invoices, etc.
  • Posting of all cash receipts, discounts, allowances, pricing differences, credit memos and other AR functions
  What you need to have
  For this position, you must have a minimum 5 years of progressively more responsible experience as an accountant in a manufacturing environment. Bachelor's degree highly preferred. A good understanding of accounting practices and standards, working knowledge of GAAP and Accounting Software platforms.
