Position Title: Chief Financial Officer
Reports To: Chief Executive Officer
Position Location: Minneapolis, MN

Basic Function

Reporting to the CEO, the CFO will plan, direct and control the assets, financial plans and policies, and accounting practices for the corporation. The CFO will be responsible for the management of such functions as treasury, budgeting, tax accounting, information technology, legal and insurance activities and various administrative functions. The CFO will lead relationships with the banks, outside auditors and present financial data and reports to the Board of Directors, CEO and the corporation's Executive Management. The CFO will ensure corporate assets are being used effectively, provide accurate and timely reporting and oversee the administration of all policies and procedures.

Key Objectives
  • Serve as a leader in the organization and work with the CEO to drive results and continue to build upon the Company's great culture.
  • Build trust and credibility with management, banks, auditors, owners and board.
  • Strong background and interest in plant operations, manufacturing costs and driving improvements/profits.
  • Evaluate, organize, implement, and direct the Company's finance function.
  • Evaluate contract profitability from quote/new product development through production. Ability to measure contract profitability over the contract term (3-5yrs) compared to expected profitability during the quoting process.
  • Evaluate return on capital equipment purchases.
  • Establish, maintain, and enforce policies and procedures for the control and management of all of the Company's resources.
  • Participate in the strategic planning efforts of the Company and in the development and implementation of all strategic initiatives to achieve operational and financial company objectives.
  • Directly participate in all corporate activities that involve the use of company financial, legal, and administrative resources.
  • Coordinate relationships with lending institutions, external auditors and taxing authorities.
  • Prepare and present financial data and reports to the President, Board of Directors, banks and auditors.
  • Supervise and direct the consolidation and preparation of all financial reports.
  • Coordinate budgetary activities, closely monitor the budget, and communicate results.
  • Select and administer all insurance policies to address liability and casualty risks.
  • Manage the accounting function to ensure timely month end close and accurate financial information.
  • Understand and support the Company's commitment to Quality Policies.
  • Build and maintain knowledge of industry trends.
  • Be a key participant in company benefit packages such as medical, dental, and 401k


The Candidate

Education/Certifications:

The ideal candidate will possess an undergraduate degree in accounting or finance and an active or inactive CPA license is required.

Professional Experience

This person will need to be a strong leader who has a proven track record in driving results. The successful candidate will possess the ability to apply analytical, strategic and tactical thinking to the planning process and have demonstrated the ability to work collaboratively in a cross-functional organization, yielding desired results. The ideal candidate will have good interpersonal skills, commanding presence, demonstrated strong general business skills, including financial management and the ability to communicate effectively with employees at all levels within the organization.

This person must have 10+ years of experience in a contract manufacturing environment or experience in a high mix low volume manufacturing environment. In addition, this person must have 10+ years of experience as a Controller, VP of Finance, CFO or equivalent.
