Graduate Assistant - LAIC Microsoft Office & Thesis Formatting Specialist
Hours Per Week: 20 hours per week
Starting Wage: $900.00 per month
Reports To: LAIC Full-time Staff
The Microsoft Office & Thesis Formatting Specialist will assist the NDSU campus community with workshops and support for Microsoft Office Suite, as well as being responsible for Thesis Formatting support for the NDSU graduate school.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Provide support and guidance with Microsoft Office and Thesis Formatting course work and projects
- Develop and review learning materials, tutorials, and other documentation on Microsoft Office products
- Work with the NDSU Graduate School's Dissertation and Thesis Coordinator to stay current with format guidelines and develop training materials
- Attend regularly-scheduled meetings and training as scheduled by the supervisor and as required by the Student Technology Services (STS) program
- In collaboration with Workshop Coordinator, develop and teach Microsoft Office and Thesis Formatting workshops
- Assist full-time LAIC staff with Service Now (SNOW) tickets
- In collaboration with Student Supervisor, set-up a scheduled time for thesis formatting assistance by appointment and assist walk-in requests.
- Continually encourage responsible use of NDSU computers
- Enforce Student Technology Services work practices
- Adhere to NDSU Human Resources policies
- Maintain a high level of professional competency
- Deal with sensitive situations and information in a confidential manner
- Other duties assigned
Minimum Qualifications:
- Enrolled NDSU graduate student
- Proficient in Microsoft Office products: Word, PowerPoint, and Excel
- Excellent oral and written communication skills
- Excellent customer service skills and interpersonal skills
- Committed to life-long learning
- Well-developed computer skills
Preferred Qualifications:
- Teaching, tutoring experience, and/or training experience
- Experience writing documentation
- Experience with thesis and disquisition formatting
