Scope
Responsible for calculations; system design and analysis of new and existing bridges, including rehabilitation design. Construction document production, including drawings, foundation sizing; reports; progress submittals; and specifications required to assure project completeness and accuracy within the allocated period and monetary budget.
Participating in condition and safety inspections of in-service bridges and other transportation related structures, and inspection report preparation. The Structural Engineer consistently exercises his/her own discretion and judgment in the performance of these duties.
Principal Responsibilities
Complete and manage structural inspection and design services in Wisconsin, Illinois, and nearby states.Assist in marketing and winning structural inspection and design projects.Assist in preparing contract documents, including structural plans, calculations, and specifications.Manage and perform above water and below water inspections of bridges, dams, and ancillary structures.Prepare and review inspection reports in conformance with applicable regulations and scopes of services.Perform and/or review load rating analyses.Maintain project design notebook and provide documentation for permanent record files.Document design decisions, meetings, and instructions from client while maintaining good client relations; review all project documents for accuracy, completeness, and suggest improvements prior to requesting a final check.Coordinate with various governmental agencies, private sector clients and subconsultants.Support and participate in the development and mentorship of staff.Skills
Structural Engineer (SE) license preferred.NBIS qualified Certified Program Manager in the State of Wisconsin and Illinois or ability to obtainAdvanced Open Water Diver certification, a plus.Rope Access certifications a plus.AWS Certified Weld Inspector credential a plus.Ability to grow structural inspection and design services in Wisconsin, Illinois and surrounding states.Education and Experience
A bachelor's degree in civil engineering with an emphasis in structural engineering.A Professional Engineering (PE) license in the State of Wisconsin and Illinois or ability to obtain through reciprocity with another state.NBIS qualified Certified Bridge Inspector (CBI) and Inspection Team Leader (ITL) in the State of Wisconsin and Illinois or ability to obtainA minimum of 6 years of experience in structural inspection and designKnowledge of design techniques, tools, and principles involved in production of precision technical plans and drawings;Knowledge of materials, methods, and the tools involved in the construction or repair of structures;Skill in the use of Microsoft Office programs and CAD software;Ability to clearly communicate in both oral and written communication to individuals or groups.Willingness to travel more than 35% of the time.A valid driver's license with a good driving record.Physical Requirements
Regularly required to sit, walk, stand, talk, see, hear, and lift objects up to 25 pounds. Occasionally required to drive, kneel, stoop, crouch, crawl, reach with hands or arms, and grasp or pull.Will have exposure to outside weather conditions.
