Laboratory technician is responsible for conducting laboratory evaluations of new laundry care products, including detergents and other chemistry products as well as chemical dispensing equipment. Typical duties include preparing chemical formulas and test fabrics, running standardized tests in chemical bench lab and laundry applications lab, recording observations in lab notebook, and clearly communicating results
NATURE AND SCOPE
This position operates in a chemical laboratory environment and assists in the development and laboratory evaluation of cleaning, sanitizing and maintenance products and equipment for the Laundry Care business
The duties of the position involve use of various procedures and applications of generally prescribed standard practices which require making decisions, using independent judgment, and making preliminary evaluation of results and recommendations.
PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES/ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
1. Performs laboratory tests under direct supervision, controls variable conditions and observes and comments on unusual events or departures from prescribed test conditions. Recommends improvement of experimental procedures.
2. Measures and prepares test methods and assembles apparatus for conducting laboratory tests.
3. Measures test results obtained and records all data accurately and concisely in a laboratory notebook. Assists higher level technical personnel in analyzing and interpreting experimental data. Makes preliminary evaluation on results and recommends acceptance or rejection.
4. Maintains stock of laboratory supplies and samples.
5. Maintains clean and safe work facility. Perform all research activity with safety as the top priority.
6. This position requires knowledge of standard and specialized laboratory equipment and chemical laboratory operations. Also required is a knowledge of laboratory practices, scientific terminology and the characteristics and preparation of materials used in routine and special experimental procedures. Lab skills, computer skills(excel, word, powerpoint, etc), and mechanical aptitude are desired.
