Position Summary:
The Mortgage Processor is responsible for understanding and processing of real estate products and processes, to include all steps in both purchase and refinance of FHA, VA, Conventional, ARM loans, and other government loans specific to their location. To meet market demands, we expect completion of the loan process within 30 days.

This position is responsible for understanding the real estate process and products to include investor requirements and product requirements. Areas include:

- Process applications
- Customer/Realtor/LO correspondence & communications
- Loan product knowledge
- Product system knowledge

Essential Responsibilities
Job Function 1: Process Applications - 45%
  • Verify property characteristics (property taxes, USPS address, etc.).
  • Order, review, and request documentation per AUS findings or Investor requirements.
  • Order, review, comply with appraisal, title, and flood certificate requirements.
  • Order case numbers, pa addendums, specific certificates/water tests as needed.
  • Review and address electronic and traditional mail as received.
  • Review tracking reports daily for document follow-up.
  • Run processing compliance checks as required to verify loan and data accuracy.
  • Submit credit files to underwriting. Also, immediate condition follow up is critical.
  • Coordinate documents with the Closing Department to insure accurate closings.
  • Address post-closing conditions within the required time frame.


Job Function 2: Customer/Realtor/LO Correspondence & Communication - 25%
  • Maintain customer and realtor contact as necessary.
  • Clear outstanding conditions on exception report.
  • Document any communications with vendors, realtors, and customers.


Job Function 3: Loan Product Knowledge - 20%
  • Maintain thorough knowledge on all mortgage products as well as all product lines offered by Alerus.
  • Keep informed of all processing changes made by the secondary market.
  • Manage all processes in the R&R database as necessary.


Job Function 4: System Knowledge & Cross Training - 10%
  • Maintain knowledge of Encompass (including LP/FNMA interface) to effectively perform daily work processes and answer customer questions.
  • Maintain knowledge of other bank applications as necessary.
  • Pursue cross training of other integral parts of team.


Position Requirements:
Qualifications:
  • High school graduate or equivalent.
  • Minimum of 2 years mortgage loan processing experience.
  • Ability to work well under pressure.
  • Typing skills with a high degree of speed and accuracy.
  • Basic computer skills and experience.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

Physical Demands - Must be met with or without a reasonable accommodation:
  • Extended periods of time sitting at a desk and using office equipment.
  • Ability to operate a personal computer/laptop for approximately 8 hours per day.
  • Extended time is spent reviewing physical and electronic documents.
  • The employee is occasionally required to stand, walk, reach with arms and hands, climb or balance, and to stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl. Vision abilities required by this job include close vision.
  • Periodically, may also do light lifting of supplies and materials which weighs in at approximately 20 lbs.
  • Will spend most of time in an indoor environment.
