Position Information

Duties:

Carry out research activities to meet the goals of the programs. Prepare presentations and reports of research work for research sponsors. Prepare manuscripts for publications and give presentations at national and international conferences. Some supervision of graduate and undergraduate students in the research laboratory.

Minimum qualifications

PhD in Coatings and Polymeric Materials or equivalent; demonstrated expertise in synthesis of polymers, characterization of polymers, preparation of coatings, evaluation of polymer and coatings properties; record of publications in peer-reviewed journals.

Preferred qualifications

Experience in using design of experiments methods to plan experiments and analyze research results, experience in the design and use of high-throughput methods for polymer synthesis and characterization, familiar with epoxy, acrylate, polyurethane, polyester technologies, experience with water-borne and solvent-borne coatings systems, polymers and coatings from bio-based materials, 3D printing/additive manufacturing. Experience with nuclear magnetic resonance spectroscopy, Fourier-transform infrared spectroscopy, high resolution mass spectroscopy, differential scanning calorimetry, thermogravimetric analysis, dynamic mechanical analysis, gel permeation chromatography, UV-Vis and fluorescence spectroscopy, dynamic light scattering, small-angle neutron scattering.
