Position Description & Details:

Position reports to Senior Associate Athletic Director for Development and Director of Athletics. Works with Senior Associate Athletic Director and the North Dakota State University Foundation in directing and coordinating activities related to fund-raising for Intercollegiate Athletics. Responsible for managing a major gift portfolio as it relates to identifying, cultivating, soliciting, and stewarding gifts, both current and deferred, to support the Intercollegiate Athletic Department. Additionally, position has a role in soliciting leadership annual gifts through the Team Makers fund. Will engage alumni and friends to determine their philanthropic interests, with an immediate focus on Intercollegiate Athletics' fundraising goals. Collaborate with Senior Associate Athletic Director to develop an annual gift solicitation plan including: goals, quantifiable objectives, and strategies for achievement.

The successful candidate must be highly self- motivated, creative, thrive under pressure, be team-member orientated and believe in the mission of North Dakota State Athletics. This position will be expected to travel both locally and nationally; and regular attendance at evening and weekend athletic activities and donor events.

NDSU has a storied history of athletic success including 28 team national championships since 1965 in football, women's basketball, wrestling, softball, men's cross country and women's indoor track and field.

Since completing a reclassification to NCAA Division I in the fall of 2008, the Bison have won eight football national championships, earned five NCAA men's basketball tournament berths, made 10 softball regionals and one super regional, three NCAA women's volleyball postseason appearances, NCAA regionals in baseball, women's soccer, and men's and women's golf while producing several All-Americans in track and field, cross country and wrestling.

Advertised Salary: Commensurate with qualifications and experience.

Minimum Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree
  • Three years fundraising and/or sales experience
  • Ability to execute face-to-face solicitations in support of the organization's mission
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills and the ability to communicate effectively to multiple audiences.
  • Evidence of ability to work cooperatively with administrators, coaches, staff, students, and the public
  • Willingness and ability to make “cold calls” and to cultivate relationships with and solicit individuals and corporations
  • Ability to develop cultivation and solicitation strategies and ensure follow-up activities and stewardship with donor prospects

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Master's degree
  • Five years of major gift fundraising in a higher education athletics setting
  • A successful track record of soliciting, securing and closing philanthropic gifts
  • Experience with Raiser's Edge or comparable donor tracking system
