Quality Engineer I | Maple Grove, MN | Contract to hire | Pay up to $37.74/HR

We have an exciting opportunity for a Measurements Engineer in our Process Development group. This is a technical owner of Process Development projects and core technologies. They devote a portion of time to technology support, technology development, and project support responsibilities.

Key Responsibilities:
* Provides guidance and training to staff, assists peers in attaining career goals, and motivates individuals to achieve results.
* Key resource for molded parts measurement and data analysis technical development and troubleshooting.
* Identifies and develops key measurement and inspection technologies to achieve department and project strategies
* Writes programs, measures parts, and analyzes data, both individually and working through a team
* Participates in functional excellence initiatives, delivers high quality functional deliverables, and ensures technical excellence for process or technology development.
* Works cross-functionally in identifying and resolving technical issues.
* Applies technical knowledge to innovate, design, and develop processes, procedures, tooling and/or automation. Executes the functional deliverables associated with the PDP/TDP, Project Management, and Quality Systems.
* Ensures proper documentation is completed to meet quality systems requirements. (e.g., BOM's, Routers, FMEA's, etc.)
* Writes and reviews validation protocols and reports applicable to new processes and/or test methods
* Provides Design for Manufacturability (DFM) input to the engineering print package.
* Drives and evaluates project and department progress, technical development plans, and results.
* Keeps the organization's vision and values at the forefront of decision making and action.

Basic Qualifications:
* Bachelor's degree in Engineering or applicable field
* 1-3+ years of related work experience or an equivalent combination of education and work experience.

Preferred Qualifications:
* Medical device or heavily regulated industry experience
* Robust technical skills with proven application on projects
* Experience with measurement systems such as: CMM, tool scope, Keyence, CT scanner, profilometer, etc.
* Experience with automated systems, data acquisition, and data analytics.
* Familiarity with various polymer processing techniques including extrusion, bonding, injection/blow-molding and 3D printing.
* Understanding of DFM, medical device design control / quality systems and the product development process (PLCP) is highly desired.
* Experience integrating DFSS tools & Lean Product Development concepts to methodically solve problems and drive improvements through analytical approaches to complex manufacturing processes.
* Proficient in process characterization (DOE, design, execution, and analysis).
* Proven history providing deliverables (i.e. Control Plans, Work Instructions, Process Flows, Equipment Requirements, etc.) for injection molding, assembly and product preparation operations.
* Good analytical skills. Ability to apply principles of logical scientific thinking to a wide range of intellectual and practical problems.
* Understanding of risk management tools and requirements for medical device product development.
