Job Description

Under general supervision, the Designer is responsible for application, conception, creation, release and support of industrial power control products consistent with company and industry standards for quality, safety and reliability while optimizing cost and manufacturability. This position is primarily responsible for developing CAD drawings for mechanical applications and works closely with the regional and global design engineering team as part of a cross functional team and will be mainly involved in design activities.

* Develops effective working relationships across Rockwell Automation organization.
* Significant team contributor to projects requiring development of new or modifications to existing products using efficient and effective CAD drafting expertise and projects that involve non-drafting related functions.
* Works in team environment and must interface with Engineering, Manufacturing, Quality, Marketing, Lab Technicians and outside vendors.
* Provides frequent and unsolicited communications to Team and Management.

Business

* Maintain an awareness of applicable design methodologies, industry standards, manufacturing practices and CAD tools.
* Ensures thorough familiarity with policies and procedures relating to standards of business conduct and understands the importance of full compliance with the letter and spirit of such policies and procedures.
* Responds with urgency to internal/external customer needs as they apply to the resolution of problems relating to technical product operation.
* Have a good working knowledge of the product and business needs. Must also develop knowledge of internal and external customer requirements.

Leadership

* Conducts tasks in accordance with applicable health, safety, quality, and environmental regulations (state/federal/local laws, ISO 9001, ISO14000, etc.) as well as Rockwell Automation policies and procedures.
* Adapts to change by identifying needs, adjusting, and working with others as appropriate to implement initiatives.
* Takes accountability for meeting commitments and deadlines.

EDUCATIONAL QUALIFICATIONS / WORK EXPERIENCE

Minimum Qualifications

* Technical school CAD training.
* Rockwell Automation will only employ those who are legally authorized to work in the United States for this opening. No sponsorship is being offered with this role.

Desired Qualifications

* 2+ years of mechanical CAD software (CREO, Pro/E, AutoCAD) design experience. Be able to manipulate large assemblies (>200 components) effectively.
* Experience in document and BOM control and familiar with processing revisions through the requirements of Application Lifecycle Management (ALM) systems.
* Able to function effectively in a global team environment and have the ability to communicate on a technical level interfacing with Engineering, Manufacturing and Quality, Marketing, Technicians and outside vendors.
* Demonstrated organizational, communication, and documentation skills in order to clearly convey status updates, technical issues, design alternatives, etc.
* Proficiency with MS Office, specifically Word, PowerPoint and Excel.
* Familiarity with Rockwell Automation products. Knowledge of industrial power control products (Motor Control Centers, low/medium voltage variable frequency drives).
* Experience with industrial power distribution panel product design.
* A working knowledge of production part processes: plastic forming, moldings, castings and sheet-metal manufacturing methods.
* Knowledge of Design for Six Sigma (DFSS) processes/tools
* SAP experience
* Skills in collaboration and teamwork.
