Primary Responsibilities:

  • Analyze pricing and risk assumptions
  • Develop new rates, prepare cost estimates and conduct and evaluate studies on pricing, utilization and health care costs for our broad range of clients
  • Research, study, and compare existing business trends to macro internal and external trends
  • Participate in client relationships
  • Design and run complex data programs
  • Perform quantitative analysis of Actuarial, financial, utilization and costs data
  • Perform forecasting and trend analysis

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree or 6 years of actuary experience
  • Candidates must be on the Actuarial exam track, having passed a minimum of 4 or more Actuarial exams (Associate of the Society of Actuaries or Fellow of the Society of Actuaries designation preferred)
  • 4+ years of Actuarial experience
  • Expertise working with formulas, calculations, charts, graphs in MS Excel
  • At least a basic level of proficiency with SAS (Statistical Analysis System) and/or SQL (Structured Query Language)
  • Ability to communicate complex information
  • If you need to enter a work site for any reason, you will be required to screen for symptoms using the ProtectWell mobile app, Interactive Voice Response (i.e., entering your symptoms via phone system) or similar UnitedHealth Group-approved symptom screener. When in a UnitedHealth Group building, employees are required to wear a mask in common areas. In addition, employees must comply with any state and local masking orders

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience working in finance or the healthcare industry
  • Candidates on the Actuarial exam track, with a minimum of 4 exams passed
  • Experience and/or exposure in dealing with health care claims experience (i.e. understanding of costs, expected claims, diagnosis codes, procedure codes)
  • Experience and/or exposure in dealing with health care claims experience (i.e. understanding of costs, expected claims, diagnosis codes, procedure codes)
  • Experience in performing regression analyses
  • Advanced level of proficiency using R, SAS, Azure Databricks, Python, .net

Colorado Residents Only: The salary range for Colorado residents is $79,700 to $142,600.
