Director of Engineering Project Management - New Product Development

Reporting to the Vice President of Engineering, this key role is responsible for leading and owning the Product Development Process governance and administration function. Will serve as the company's subject matter expert in New Product Development Project Management and will also be responsible for leading/mentoring a growing, talented team of Engineering Project Managers. This is a highly visible role where you will have a tremendous impact on the entire organization!

Primary Responsibilities Will Include:

  • Analyze new and existing NPI (New Product Introduction) projects to ensure scope, budget and timing expectations are clearly identified and cross functionally managed accordingly
  • Maintain speed of innovation in competitive industry while achieving project milestones related to budget, timelines and scope
  • Plan, administer and implement assigned process and project management standardization projects, which may cross several functional areas, such as marketing, product management, operations, outside services, and vendors
  • Create and maintain project portfolio dashboard with key project metrics
  • Provide project management leadership to complex NPI projects to drive business strategy
  • Drive continuous process improvement of the stage-phase gate process
  • Collaborate across functions and lead indirect teams to move projects through the stage gate development process
  • Select, coach and develop the team, setting objectives that align with company strategy to inspire and motivate the team

Requirements and Desired Qualifications:

  • Bachelor of Science Degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Electrical, Manufacturing, Industrial), Engineering Technology/Management, Computer Science, or other directly engineering-related area
  • 15+ years of progressive work experience in engineering, marketing, and brand or product management within a complex business environment
  • 10+ years of direct NPI project management experience - preferably in a global manufacturing environment with large cross functional project
  • Must possess excellent technical and cross-functional product development knowledge coupled with superior people leadership skills.
  • Excellent communication skills (written and verbal) with experience with experience presenting information to various levels of an organization
  • Must be innovative - not afraid to experiment and push boundaries - provide ideas that have break through results
  • Strong abilities to lead with agility and learn in the moment and set the pace for success
  • Must be a people connector and a champion of talent identification and management
  • Must be able to lead with excellence through continuous improvement and have a drive to win
