Position Overview:

The primary responsibility of the GNQAM is to oversee all aspects of the quality assurance programs for KNES. The position reports to the President. KNES operates under a 10CFR50 Appendix B Safety Related Program with Part 21 responsibility and an NQA-1 compliant program. The GNQAM is responsible to assure day-to-day processes and procedures are conducted in accordance with companies Nuclear Quality Assurance Programs with support from a group of Quality Assurance Technicians. The responsibilities also include but are not limited to the review of all commercial grade dedication documentation and purchase order requirements culminating in the development of a Certificate of Conformance to accompany outgoing shipments. The position requires domestic and international travel for periodic source surveillances and audits when needed for Program implementation, NUPIC, and NIAC compliance. The applicant must be able to enter commercial nuclear power plants.

Job Responsibilities:

Safety Related and NQA-1 Programs
  • Write and maintain all Nuclear QA programs
  • Write and maintain all QA departmental procedures and work instructions
  • Assist with enforcement of all requirements of the quality programs.
  • Ensure effectiveness and compliance of QA programs through audits and other methods.
  • Work with Engineering, Purchasing and Manufacturing to ensure the QA requirement of the individual projects are satisfied.
  • Administer the Lessons Learned program - a process to learn from previous jobs and implement best practices.

    Audits
  • Must be/or become a qualified lead auditor in accordance with NQA-1 requirements
  • Perform all internal and external audits per schedule
  • Record any resultant non-conformances and process their resolution

    Corrective Action
  • Oversee and process NCR's and communicate NCR's to appropriate personnel
  • Issue and Process Corrective Action Requests
  • Document and answer Customer Complaints

    Continual Improvement
  • Identify and make improvements in targeted areas as supported by management.

    Training Programs
  • Develop and implement training relative to the success of the Nuclear programs.
  • Conduct training classes
  • Ensure documentation of training
  • May perform any other work-related functions as deemed necessary and appropriate by immediate supervisor, including non-assigned sales orders as directed

    Basic Qualifications:
  • BS degree or higher in technical, business, science or engineering field, and/or former Military Nuclear Qualified with relevant work experience
  • 10 years' experience in a manufacturing or production work environment in the area of Quality Assurance/Control
  • US Citizen is a requirement
  • Previous experience in the Nuclear Industry
  • Working knowledge of the relevant nuclear programs for compliance to 10CFR21, 10CFR50, Appendix B, ANSI N45.2, and ASME NQA-1
  • Lead Internal Auditor experience a plus
  • Thorough working knowledge of applicable ASME , ISO9001, ANSI, and SNT-TC-1A (NDE) industry standards and specifications
  • Experience with AWS D1.1 and EN 3834-2 welding codes and ASME/ISO non-destructive examination methods

    Preferred Qualifications:
  • Hands on ability to implement, direct and train all employees on companies QA Program
  • Ability to lead & promote the Nuclear QA Program, encourage others to react to and accept changes and to move in new direction as needed
  • Exercise prudent judgment to handle and resolve all compliance, QA issues in a timely manner
  • Proficient in MS Office Suite specifically MS Excel, and experience with ERP/MRP systems
  • Ability to work in a team-oriented environment that is fast paced and demanding
  • Must be self-directed, have excellent initiative and organizational skills
  • Exhibits a strong ability to handle multiple demands with a sense of urgency, drive and energy.
  • Works well meeting multiple deadlines with the ability to deliver on time
  • Excellent written and verbal communications skills
