UHC may delegate claims processing to a provider entity to perform on our behalf. In those situations, UHC provides oversight to ensure that the delegated entity is supporting a constituent experience on par with UHC.

This position will lead the process for incorporating internal control and risk management evaluations into the standard delegate claims processing oversight audits. They will also be responsible for conducting internal control evaluation procedures and audits to assess the existence, effectiveness and efficiency of the business controls, financial information, and compliance with laws and regulations on certain delegated entities. In addition, they will assist with special projects to improve the operational oversight and monitoring processes of our delegated provider entities.

This position is full-time (40 hours/week) Monday - Friday. Employees are required to work our normal business hours of 8:00am - 5:00:pm. It may be necessary, given the business need, to work occasional overtime or weekends.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Lead the development of internal control and risk assessment procedures to incorporate into the standard operational claims processing monitoring and audit programs.
  • Execute specific internal control evaluation assignments on selected delegated entities to determine the effectiveness of their operating environments. This includes audit planning, detailing control procedures and the related testing and reporting in accordance with professional standards (such as Sarbanes-Oxley testing).
  • Prepare clear, accurate and complete workpapers in accordance with department quality standards; meet project timelines and deliverable due dates.
  • Identify audit issues and perform root cause analysis with practical corrective solutions - act a key resource on complex issues
  • As necessary, perform follow-up on assigned audit report action plans to ensure that the delegated provider partners have completed agreed upon action.
  • Participate on special projects undertaken by the department and/or the Company.
  • Lead the development of audit tools that will validate key delegate system configurations such as the division of financial responsibility (DOFR) and benefit plan set up
  • Conduct ad hoc investigations into identified or reported risks.
  • Collaborate with internal and external management to review the impact of internal control deficiencies and recommendations.
  • Prepare an annual risk assessment of the group.

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, technology, or related discipline.
  • 2+ years of relevant auditing and internal control assessment experience
  • Certified Public Accountant
  • Must understand auditing and internal control concepts and principles, and how to apply them.
  • Sarbanes-Oxley internal control experience
  • High proficiency with Microsoft office Word (Create & Edit); Excel (Create, Edit, Sort, Pivot); Outlook (Calendar Management)
  • Solid understanding of business functions (HR, finance etc.)

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience in the Health Care industry
  • Experience working in a complex IT/IS environment
  • Experience working with regulatory compliance or quality adherence
  • Experience with a claims processing operation

Colorado Residents Only: The salary range for Colorado residents is $64,800 to $116,000.
