Position Title: Human Resources Generalist

Department: People, Talent and Culture

Reports To: Manager, People, Talent and Culture

Status: Exempt

Date: September 2019

Broad Functions: Assists the Manger, People, Talent and Culture with day-to-day initiatives that support the company Airports and/or Turnpikes. Partners with VP's, Directors, Managers and Associates for providing the best-in-class services that facilitate greater effectiveness throughout the organization and supported teams. Handle and respond to associate inquiries; researching problems and providing solutions; assisting with new hire orientation and onboarding; and owning the maintenance of associate files. Will serve as a liaison between departments and requests as needed. May function as the main point of contact in a location and participate in the overall CBA strategies including negotiations & grievances where appropriate.

Main Duties and Responsibilities:

1. Policy Management: Assist Manager with interpreting company Policies and CBA's representing the organization in compliance related investigations, grievances, arbitrations and hearings. Also, assist with internal investigations and recommendations.

2. People Operations: Manage the maintenance of Associate files; I-9's, and audits for compliance. Ensure all new hires have received and signed state associate notices as applicable. Assists the Manager with scanning and filing items to associate files.

3. Performance Management: Assist manager by working with the field managers to determine appropriate course of action with regards to staffing & hiring; performance management, coaching/counseling; safety and/or attendance concerns. Participates with salaried leaders in hourly meetings with supervisors and associates. Assist Manager in leading the process and communication for annual merit and performance reviews.

4. Associate Benefit Programs: Assist Manager with requests for leaves of absence FMLA, Personal and Military leave; coordinating the return to work with leaders and any request for accommodations. Lead the local annual Benefits Open Enrollment Process. Assist with ADA workers compensation requests.

5. Front Line Hourly and Salaried Recruitment: Partner with the leaders in the implementation of staffing strategies for recruiting across diverse platforms including regular participation in job fairs. Lead the end-to end recruiting: sourcing, screening, interviewing and selection. Support compliance management for the recruitment files (eg, resumes, interview notes, calibration and selection process). Assist with Airport badging process where applicable.

6. Onboarding: Maintain, deliver and continuously improve an effective on-boarding program for new hires aligned with corporate and local requirements driving retention of top talent. Assembly of new hire packets, micros cards, and other orientation items.

7. Recruiting system: Monitor progress of new hires onboarding; train new leaders on the usage of the tool.

8. Payroll support: Provide data entry and auditing support as needed on tracking employee hours for any special projects.

9. Data Analytics: Utilize reports to drive effectiveness in the business. Identify key trends and the ability to recommend improvements to the leadership team around headcount, staffing, turnover and exit interview data.

10. Assist and support all People activities/duties as needed

Skills and Qualifications:

1. Associate Degree in HR, Business Administration or related field. Bachelor's Degree preferred. Knowledge of CBA's highly desired.

2. Two years of benefits, HR or Generalist experience.

3. Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.

4. Solid knowledge of company and departmental policies and procedures.

5. Bilingual (English/Spanish) preferred.

6. Ability to communicate effectively with co-workers; self-sufficient and motivated; team-approach toward resolution of problems and providing services.

7. Able to multitask; strong organizational and problem-solving skills.

8. Must also have proficiency in all areas of EEO/Title VII compliance including expertise in investigating.

9. Proficient with Microsoft office applications required

10. Ability to travel as applicable to other locations to provide support

This position is performed within an office environment whose duties are primarily performed behind a desk. Employees in these positions frequently operate a computer, read and write, and interact with others in person, over the phone, and via other devices. They move about within the office to access file cabinets, documents, office machinery, and other equipment. They may also have to do some light lifting of supplies and materials from time to time. Occasionally move objects weighing up to 20 lbs., and sometimes, but rarely, up to 50 lbs.
